Anyone know any bands around Cambridge?

Postby Jordan C » Nov 11th, '07, 12:09

In my absence I have become involved in Cambridge community radio station 209RADIO having had a programme proposal accepted for a show called THE LIVE ZONE.

The premise of my show is to highlight and promote live music in and around Cambridge from bands/acts/artistes to club events etc.

If anyone lives in and around Cambridge and you are in a band or know someone in a band it'd be good if you could get in touch so I can bring you/them onto the show when it launches and interview the band, have the band play a couple of tracks acoustically and choose a couple of tracks that the band feels has influenced them collectively. The section of the show should be around half an hour.

If anyone can help let me know!!

Having played in bands (though not in cambridge...sorry) I know there will be plenty of bands desperate for any kind of exposure. Just go to a few of the local live venues, see the bands, talk to people there and people will fnd you. Find out who the local promoters are. A link with them would be mutually beneficial. They can put you onto the best talent, and you would be promoting bands they are putting on.
Also check out the local music forums. I know where I come from the local bbc radio forum became popular with bands.

Hooorah!

My band, the Mavericks of Love live just out of Cambridge (you know Linton?) and we all attend sixth form in Cambs. This sounds ideal for us as we have been trying to get out into the music community, we've been playing a few small gigs around Cambridge (Man on the Moon, The Graduate) but something acoustic and intimate would be brilliant! Our myspace-

Message us through there and I'm sure all of the band would readily agree and make dates. Very strange coincidence to cross musical wires on a magic forum! But, yes, do contact us and we'll see what happens.

Some of the best unions in history were formed from the most unlikely of sources!!

I'll give you guys a listen and report back to ya!! But as it stands, you are local, you are gigging and subject to providing a demo cd - you are on LOL!!!
