A big hello from Brickmaster!

Postby Brickmaster » Dec 3rd, '07, 01:10

ok

First things first. I really like it when people introduce themselves as "George" rather than "Brickmaster".

However, Brickmaster is the name I ALWAYS use on-line since I began using the net (and that was a long time ago). It's based on a LEGO addiction I used to have...

In almost every forum and site I appear as Brickmaster so if you see this name in another forum it's probably me.

I'll see If I can find a nice picture of me but this doesn't really concern me right now.

Now the more important stuff.

I think I can call myself a skilled hobbyist although I'm not so sure what "skilled" might actually mean... :?: Anyway, I know some magic stuff and I never fail to amaze my audience by presenting something that exceeds their belief of "normal".
I believe that magic is a way to clue in people about the things that are not solidly scientifically explained in this world. It is a way to suggest that there is more to it than we can experience with our five physical senses.

If I would bet my life on something, it would be that there is always more than you can see, more than you can feel, and more than you can imagine.

Therefore, magic is important to me as a way of self expression.

At this point, one would guess that I have a passion for mentalism, which is actually true.

However, mentalism usually requires a large audience which is pretty hard to come by if you are a non professional.

The whole truth is that I am open to any form of magic. Absolutely anything.

Here I would like to mention that apart from magic another great interest of mine is juggling. I am always open to ideas on how to combine these two art forms. From personal experience I say that there is much potential towards that direction.

When I perform (either juggling or magic) I get this common question: "How did you start this thing?" or "where did you learn this stuff?" e.t.c.

This is an annoying question indeed but now it reminds me of how I REALLY got STARTED.

Well, I was 5 years old when it happened, still exploring the world, trying my very best to communicate effectively with the other children at kindergarten. It was then when I first encountered a Magician! He came at my school and did something that I thought was merely incredible! He was up on the stage with all his equipment and I had missed the whole show. Everything but one effect. So as I came in with the rest of the class, he took some red silk in his hands, he showed it to us. It was an empty hangerchief, deep red and rather thick. He folded it and then to my amazement, he set it on fire and out of the silk came a perfectly white pigeon. Time stopped that very moment and I can still vividly remember how the pigeon flew out of the flaming silk, flied in a circle above our heads and landed back on stage right in its cage as if it new exactly what its task was and why it had been summoned.
I'm not really sure if the show ended with this effect but whatever happened, I remember nothing else. This single scene was vividly imprinted in my mind.

That was how magic and mystery was first implanted deep in my subconscious. Only many years later was it when I first took an active role and started performing my own magic. I recall I was about 13 at the time and some magician taught me how to palm a coin. It was amazing. I got stuck.

And here I am at my 18 years of age at 2 o'clock in the morning writhing about myself and digging deep in my memory.

Enough about me.
I am going to browse the forum to get to know all of you.

Am I forgetting something????

Ah, yes.

Thank you for reading this huge self-oriented post of mine!

Best regards,
Brickmaster

Welcome George and thanks for one of the most comprehensive introductions that we've had for a while
