Avatar help

Postby bmat » Dec 3rd, '07, 18:00

Okay finally got a picture I want for an avatar. I can resize it but for some reason not small enough to put in as an avatar. Any ideas. I know this has probably come up before and I did try the search function but couldn't find any reference to my specific problem. Yes I'm not overly intelligent in such matters.

You need to resize it down to 80x80 pixels, I think there's a minimum file size too, if you save it as a jpg you should be fine.

If you don't have a graphics application:

http://www.resize2mail.com/advanced.php

Hints:

To keep filesize at a minimum, answer the following:

1. Is the image a PICTURE, i.e. a photograph, or is it GRAPHICAL, i.e. a cartoon
If a picture, choose JPG. If Graphical, choose gif.

2. If quality is important, i.e. definition (is there fine lines, small text etc) then choose GIF, otherwise, choose JPG

3. Is the avatar animated?
If YES... choose GIF. JPEG files won't animate. GIF files will.

Thanks to the both of you. I think I resized by way of inches not pixels so I'll give that a try and it is a photograph so I'll take go the jpeg route. I'll play with it again this week sometime.

Thank you.
