farytale of new york

Postby spudgun » Dec 11th, '07, 17:02

just have to say cause...."so and so is a genius"....and "hes a genius" is bannded about in hugely innappropriate ways in the music industry(not that anyone said it)

but

Kirsty Mccoll actually is a genius.....Shane McGowan is very very very good but not genius....but Kirsty my goodness what a talent. Right up there with Prince, Mozart, Jimi Hendrix and me :D

also though on the christmas song front i loathe..."simply haaaaaaving a wonderful christmas time"

perhaps there's a reason for this...but no-one has mentioned "only you" by the flying pickets? it was huge in it's day...weird how it goes!

Fairytale is a caahhhlaassssic xmas song...but I did like the modern take on the slade/wizard xmas toons Christmas time (Don't let the bells end) by the Darkness which was held off the top by some geezer doing a cover of a tears for fears song i believe!?!?!?

So to clarify my fave is the rather predictable Fairytale of New York, but I also can endure the slade and wizard tunes (Merry Xmas Everyone and I wish it could be xmas everyday)

laters...

My favourite is "Have A Cheeky Christmas" by The Cheeky Girls. I also like the video too.

Splendid choice, Mandrake!

The last couple of years have seen me greatly enjoying Freddy the Red-Brained Mi-Go, It's Beginning to Look a Lot Like Fish-Men, We Wish You a Scary Solstice and Go Summon Up the Dead Ones.

I sorry to say this, but it looks like Fairy Tale of New York is being edited...

Un-effing-believable

At least I know my £135.50 is being spent wisely!

My favorite is I believe in Father Christmas by Greg Lake.

Shame on the BBC vetting what they believe we should and should not listen to now. Nice how their view changes when they want to report something in the news that breaches someone elses right to privacy.

Yes and it's one of the reasons I don't have a telly, and have not had one for nearly eight years.
Oh and the latest? The BBC have decided NOT to edit Fairytale of New York this time around, though they have done every year since it's release.
The edited version went "You scumbag, you maggot... You're cheap low and haggard"

How c*** (not the best) is that?!?

As for christmas songs... Well. Let me put it this way: If I am in a shop, and they play a christmas song, I leave.
I cannot put it any simpler than that.
