Slice a woman with a saw

I think that everyone in this forum need to think about that famous trick.
I think that it represents the most famous act of sacrifice of a magician.

I would suggest a minute of silence for all the twins that have lost a brother/sister for the sake of magic.

:(

You really need to stop smok'n the cheap crack.

Other than a gag performed by Lee Grabel I think it was, there's never been a use of "twins" in this effect... for that matter, the original Thurston version never even used two girls, mirrors or mannequin parts.

Yes, I agree that those holding an interesting in the area of grand illusion need to know this effect better than they do... but then, few people ever really STUDY the history, background and engineering elements surrounding most of the illusions they choose to buy and perform.

Then again, we can't say too much in this atmosphere in that some of the "deeper" secrets and nuances associated with this (and other) effect(s) would be exposed, a good chunk of it being insight that the typical enthusiast simply don't need to know about until he/she is preparing to make a purchase. At that stage in the game they need to consider performance settings -- the market they can realistically work on a steady bases that will pay the kind of money one must have to support a small illusion show... even a Husband & Wife type team would be facing around $500.00 a day in general operating costs and that's without a show to worry about.

An interesting take on this effect is used in the book 'The Murder Artist' by John Case - it's a thriller and is really quite good. The whole 'twin' angle is explored to the full...

Jonathan Creek, The Black Canary, first shown Christmas 1998 with, for a short time, two Hannah Gordons for the price of one  !

Usually I enjoy my blissful state of confusion. But this thread really has me wondering. I don't even know how to reply to the first post. Truely I am mystified. Thanks.

I have emailed The Cheeky Girls on numerous occasions about performing this with me but have not received a reponse.
An injunction, but no response.
