I have a general objectioon to ascriptive forms of authority (here or anywhere) and I am devout capitalist who believes in merit-based achievements rather than birth right entitlements.
You may well want to fight for the royals, but I doubt they would even let you in their club

I chose to come here because of a wonderful academic opportunity and the UK has been perfect for my many pursuits, including magic and mentalism. I also love it because we can have this free debate in the absence of censorship.
If you want me to criticise the US, that's easy too...it is currently undoing most of what it and the UK had sought to achieve by being the main architects of the international human rights regime set up after the defeat of the nazis (another irony given the link to the defeat of fascism mentioned earlier).
I do not think the publication and exposure of magic secrets was politically or ideologically motivated, it was simply an ill-conceived editorial decision that was not thought through carefully enough.
Linking the decision to human rights, asylum seekers, and terrorists seems misplaced, unhelpful, and a typical populist move. Rather, we need a collective rejection of the decision and to give voice to our displeasure at the publication, which is what I have done and ask all of us to do as well. If voice does not work, then we exercise exit, in which case I boycott the Guardian. I can recommend Hirschman's Exit, Voice and Loyalty in this regard.
