quick question

so here's my question, for those who are experienced in the matter, what is the best way to get duplicate signatures from a spectator on a card without them knowing it?

Get them to sign a card. While they are doing this, pinch their wallet and their should be plenty of cards with their signatures on.

Are you after how to get duplicates, or what books you can buy to get the information from? The help you get depends on your answer, as you wont be told how to do it.

the application is i want to know how to obtain a duplicate signature on a duplicate card without their knowing. carbon copies or something? i really have no idea but i know there are methods out there. i guess I'm looking for a book or something to point me in the right direction. so if there's a trick that utilizes a torn corner, i would want to be able to do that same trick with a signed card.

Yes - that is not an application, but a method. I guess an easier way to put it is, why? There would be different methods for different applications. If I don't know exactly what you are trying to do (effect wise) it would be hard to point you in a good direction. There are ways of getting dups that are completely dependant on the effect. Do you have an effect in mind?

Also, since you are suggesting a method before you suggest an effect, we are treading on dangerous territory. There is no exposure allowed here (happily!). So, I don't know if your question can actually be asked or answered here at all. You will not get any methods here, but maybe some suggested pointers if you are able to frame a better question...

Best-

-Steve

sorry but I am confused still. You are asking for a method, but it also looks like you are also asking for an effect that uses that method. I don't think you will get much help here, as it isn't clear what you want.

You can do a signed torn and restored card without a duplicate signature, so do you need to know where you can buy a book or DVD with that effect, or one on duplicate signatures?

the effect is to make a signed card dissapear in front of them, and then appear in their wallet. to achieve this, i would need two of the same signed card. i would use misdirection to get the card into their wallet. i've already done this effect with duplicate cards, but the signed element would add a nice touch.
sorry if I'm being unclear. I'm trying my best. I'm not looking for anyone to give me free methods. in fact, i hate all the exposure surrounding magic these days. if there are any books or videos you know of on duplicate signatures, they would be extremely helpful for me.

Thanks Boris. it was the part about a torn corner that was confusing the issue. I could have got details on this for you, but can't help you on the duplicate problem I'm afraid.

if you're doing it to someone you are in contact with for more than once, get them to sign the card during a different trick, then keep the card and the next time you meet them plant the card, have them sign the same forced duplicate, make it disappear, and the trick is done

However, you would need to make sure they use the same marker, and they sign in the same spot, the same signature (which is pretty hard to get)

if you want it impromptu, i can't help you

I know of a similar method for coins wich could work, it consist in unintentionally erasing the ink with your thumb and making the card sign again.

I dunno if it help, its the most i can do i believe.

It's possible but I'll have to check the DVD again that Peter Harrisons Connected covers this torn and restored signed card to wallet.

Failing that buy yourself Dan Garcias Torn for a nice T & R effect with a signed card
