8 Times & Counting!

Postby crozboz » Dec 23rd, '07, 21:00

I was just wondering, how many times everyone here has ended up in hospital because of magic tricks or stunts gone wrong?

8 times for me:
- Thrown playing card in the eye (not nice)
- Burnt lip (firebreathing)
- Burnt forearm (firebreathing)
- Burnt chest (guess what?)
- Sprained wrist (charlier cut gone REALLY wrong)
- Infected blister (muscle passing addiction)
- Broken finger (finger chopper without reading instructions - I was 4)
- Torn ligament & broken knee cap

The last one was so my fault. I ended up in hospital after trying out a card trick on one of my friends whilst going down a black ski run. I didnt know it was a black, since it sort of turned from a red into a black suddenly. Yeah, well, thats my excuse and im sticking to it.

Anyone else got any interesting hospital/magical related injuries?

All the best,
Croz

I've had a broken finger once by performing the classic, "pull my finger trick" to a body builder.

yeah... sorry about that!
I am yet to be hospitalised by anything magic related. I've suffered various juggling related injuries, some similar to Mr Crosbie's, but as of yet, the magic has been kind, Although I do apologise to a couple of girls who may have suffured an injuries due to a close proximity of breasts to flashpaper (or vice versa perhaps).

You have to be so careful when choosing spectators for effects like The Web, Killer Elite Pro and From Hell, to name just three. Unless you know the person well, you just don't know for sure how they will react.

Fortunately, I have never been hospitalised due to magical mishaps. Been burnt a few times when using flash paper, mind.

How about you give up Fire breathing? By the sounds of it you do more harm then good.

Markini,

Good idea buddy, but his mum won't let him out every time I want a cig. I did think of flash paper to set fire to the giant umbrella but it would only work once

Or you could just give up smoking. Then again I dont think I want to be around the Frank Spencer of Firebreathers when he doing that stuff.

To be fair, firebreathers are supposed to expect to be burnt occasionally. 3 times isnt bad.

And there was me eagerly opening the thread expecting to hear that you'd just got a new girlfriend or something.

My little finger hurts a bit from passing. That's it, I'm a very safe and boring magician.

You can expect also :
Fire breathers also risk several other immediate and long-term health effects, including:

Skin irritation
Dry mouth
Gum disease
Stomach ulcers
Poisoning
Chemical pneumonia or acute respiratory distress
Since fuels can contain carcinogens, fire breathers may be at a higher risk for several cancers.

From www.howstuffworks.com three of them isnt bad either.
