If you have the sponge ball toolbox you'll have heard of this. Without giving too much away its said to be the new TT.

Anyone got one or used one, I'm interested but from what i've seen its good but not as diverse as the TT.
Discuss...

I don't have one but have seen one and toyed around with it.
Certainly not as diverse as a TT and some of my tt effects couldn't be done with it. I think it'd be best for sponge and paper money but I will still get one soon as I like the effect on the Toolbox and have some other ideas for it.
The fact you have to keep your hand in "a certain postition" may be a give away though.

It's interesting; about as useful as a TT.

But it's not my style or handling, so I don't have one, although I'm fully aware of how it works.

Kenton Knepper created several other uses for the sanada gimmick. His uses of the sanada gimmick are very different from the usual sanada material.

Twists and Trances has an effect using a sanada to create a duel reality situation. If you're into pseudo hypnosis acts, it's worth looking into.

Little Book of Secrets teaches a handling of the gimmick to make a killer out of a common routine. I won't say more on this one as it would possibly expose the secret.

Jay Scott Berry made a small mod to the Sanada Gimmick and called it The Cloaking Device. Looks like real magic when he does it (I saw him give an awesome lecture) but he has been practising for years

Indeed, Jay Scott Berry is amazing with it but overall I think it's one of those back of the draw things. Maybe worth investing if you've got a use for it but otherwise a bit 'meh'.

The basic Sanada Gimmick is extremely versatile. It might not be quite as useful as a TT to many magicians, but it has some very powerful uses, as sleightlycrazy has already mentioned.

The Sanada Gimmick DVD has some superb ideas (including a couple that were very surprising).

Seeing Toyosane Sanada work the gimmick was utterly baffling, even though I knew how it worked. My girlfriend hated his tongue click sound effect for a vanish, though!

Not only is there Jay Scott Berry's work with the Cloaking Device (as philipsw said), but also the FS2 Gimmick, another variation on the basic idea.

Mr Berry also has a wonderful TT variation called the Eclipse Tip, with which he does an amazing silent four ball sponge routine that's extremely beautiful. You'll feel a bit disappinted when you get the Eclipse Tip, but watch the DVD and you'll understand the potential.

I had one ages ago. I had to cut it so It would fit my hand nicely, only I cut it a bit too short so I never got to use it. I got it with a bill switch routine but I can't remember which one.

I got one with Cream by Sean Fields - if I'm thinking of the right gimmick

I split mine whilst practising and never replaced it.

Get the one with a cloaking device...a mentalist's dream!

I tried one on some years ago, but even in the dimly-lit shop it was obvious that the colour would make it stick out like a sore thumb. The dealer suggested keeping the back of my hand to the audience - but doesn't that defeat the object?

I've used mine quite a few times and find it really useful. Can do all sorts of things that you can't do with a TT. I've used it for spongeballs, coins, cards, all sorts. If it's handled properly and carefully, there's no reason why it should be spotted any more than a TT.

the gouzach gimmick (check the spelling though!) is a halfway house between the sananda and tt...quite clever it is...

i like the kenton usages of the sananda too...

Without wanting to end up in the inuendo bingo thread... I think flexibility was the problem with my last gimmick.

It comes with a DVD with 9 routines - I might look into this after my sponge ball toolbox arrives.

I can definetly see the advantages with spongeballs e.g. rabbit holes etc.
