Greeting from Jersey

Postby The Alfredo764 » Jan 24th, '08, 04:55

New Jersey that is. Obviously, I'm new here and would like to greet all of you. I started getting into magic ever since I was 8 years old when my dad's friend was moving and he left behind a Masked Magician VHS that I saw.

I also got some card tricks from my uncle, which was pretty cool. But what really is bringing me back is my friend Kris, who really knows his card tricks. My long time friend Rodrigo also knows an extremely wide variety of tricks. Also, there is a kid in my grade who performs most of his tricks in school and was actually mentored by my friend Rodrigo.

I just wish there were more abundant magic shops around here and not a kiosk at the mall where everything is so public and the people who work there are so inexperienced. (the kiosk is right by the food court and the only thing the employees know how to handle are D'Lites. and those really attract kids)

Greetings from slightly up north, Alfredo!

Welcome to TM.

Where in Jersey are you located? Depending on where you are, there's a few options available to you.

Welcome Alfredo,

I find that there are some excellent online retailers out there (I live in England but I'm sure the US has some decent ones too), if you do a little research on your purchases first you will be ok.

Welcome Alfredo!

Like you, I live in a magicially-remote area where the nearest magic shops are an hours drive away. Often when I'm on holiday I'll go to this joke shop/fancy dress type place and at the back is a small counter for magic tricks.

The guy there is VERY experienced and baffles me every time.

I live in North Jersey, not too far from New York City. There are some magic shops I suppose in New York City, but I'm working on getting my driver's license right now.

Abracadabra Magic is down in Middlesex - might be a shorter journey.

Yes, there's always the city - however you'll find massive price hikes in shops like Tannen's.

Hey Alfredo! I'm a bit north of you at the moment as well, and in a few years, I plan on moving to Princeton. I'm glad you are here and I hope you enjoy the wonderful forums.
