As their postal address is in North Carolina, it's unlikely that many TM members will have first hand experience of this outlet. Their front page still refers to 'stocking suffers' which places their updating at least one month old and which is rather worying but that might just be a minor point.

If you order and pay by credit card you should be covered by the card issuer's protection policy of 'no goods, no payment' - assuming that applies in the USA. If any of our US members know more about this issue perhaps they could help advise - or possibly give the supplier a nudge to visit TM and see this thread for themselves?

I have dealt with etrickshop.com. I'm starting to believe that they're a scam. I purchased from them once in February 2008. I paid by credit card and 1 week after they charged my card, they cancelled my order without explanation. It has been 3 weeks that I have been in contact with them regarding this and only once in 5 attempts has communication been established. This is how I found out my order was cancelled because the item ordered was no longer in stock. It's been 3 weeks and my credit card still has not been credited. Thank goodness it was only a $13 order. They are either very slow in resolving disputes or very incompetent. Regardless of whether I get my refund or not, I would never purchase from them again.

I'd be wary for the following reasons:

1) Their website is cr@p
2) The contact email addresses given are free ones provided by an ISP or even yahoo. I don't know about anyone else but it's reassuring for me when people have their own domain and an email address that says "magic@magicshop.com", rather than "magicshop@hotmail.com"
3) They sell random other stuff like action figures. A decent magic shop is very unlikely to sell these - it seems a bit like "anything to make a quick buck".
4) The name itself! This is a bit pedantic and not always true because emagictricks.co.uk is a real shop (which they advertise on their homepage) but the name does tend to suggest they don't really have an established physical presence, which would worry me a bit.

Never used them, but I would go for www.worldmagicshop.co.uk
Very reliable and trustworthy and they always answer the phone.

I would stick to established magic dealers. If you're in the UK, this would include places like Alakazam, Magic Magic, Magicbox and Merchant of Magic (Magic Shop), to name just four.

Steer well clear of sites like the one you mentioned. It looks a bit dodgy if you ask me.

I don't think a real reputable magic shop online or otherwise would sell bobble heads

Don't order from eTrick Shop

Postby coopco » Oct 22nd, '10, 19:38

I just ordered a Halloween costume from eTrick Shop and realize they are a scam. Don't order from them. They charged my credit card. They never answered my inquiries on their "live chat -- offline". I got someone on the phone who didn't even answer eTrick Shop and then made up some story about how they were shipping everything the week prior to Halloween but it still hasn't shipped yet. I have called my credit card company to have my charges reversed and if I encounter any resistance from eTrick Shop, I will file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. Their BBB rating is C and quite frankly, I don't get how it's that high. Their most recent complaint with the BBB is for non shipment of an order. You will regret it if you order from eTrick Shop.
