Perhaps it's a generational thing? Though I was alive for the tail-end of the Iron Lady's reign, when I learnt what a Prime Minister was, what they do and why we're supposed to hate them, it was all related to John Major. Despite a 10 year period in office and even now that he's gone, I think of Tony Blair and think of "new", because I remember it being such a big old deal that labour were back in. As for Gordon Brown, well... as far as I can tell, people have barely acknowledged his existence!
