Cameron

It deserves to, it's probably the best DVD set I own for pure workable material!

Well done, I've recently purchased your new effect on the back of this DVD set such a convert you've made out of me. I look forward to road testing it soon.

I agree wholeheartedly with all the previous comments... This is a great set of dvds. You're getting an absolute bucketful of tricks, filmed and delivered with no small amount of panache and wit. It would be a bargain at twice the price!! (glad it's not... obviously..)
It's nice to see something different being tried with the usual format of magic dvds - and it's even nicer to see it being pulled off so well.

So I finally decided to check this out, and contrary to most of your guys opinions, I find this set comes up lacking. Maybe it's just that I am 'thinking like a magician' and maybe it's because I haven't gone too far into the set, but to me all the tricks so far seem really basic. They are all just... "DL, not your card? well how about now?" or some sleight variation of that or so it seems. Like I said I could be wrong and will reflect after viewing the whole set but have any of you found the same thing?

Sorry you feel that way. While some of the tricks do fall into the "magician in trouble" category (I admit that I'm a big fan of that plot!) I think there are still a lot of tricks in the set which don't fall into that category.

But to each his own, my friend. I don't expect everyone to like this material. It has served me well is all I can say about it. But please do give the rest of the set a shot. You might find something you like.

First, I don't know Mr. Francis, so my opinions here are based on my own ideals and not friendship.

Second, I don't own this set, so my opinions here, more than likely, mean nothing.

So, have you viewed the whole set yet? What are your thoughts at this point?

Also, the set can now be had for under $75.00 (or about £38), which does make a difference. Still, based on the original price, you are getting 27 tricks, which comes to the princely sum of $3.70 per trick or one pound eighty five. Seems a reasonable use of money.

Well, there's not much else you can say. I find Jay Sankey's material to be very useful, but I don't like all of it. Doc Eason is one of my favorite of magicians, but I find some of his material useless for me, personally. Ron Bauer is very much my mentor and some of the things that he feels are correct I have to disagree with. That's just the way the ball bounces.

As for simplicity, I find myself gravitating more toward beginner's books that advanced books. In fact, I can get more use out of the material in a beginner's book than I can from the material in an advanced book.

I further find that simple tricks almost always garner a better reaction from the audience then the greatest of knuckle busters. I'm not altogether sure why this is and I've debated many different theories on this fact, but the overwhelming majority of magicians will agree that the simple, "nothing" tricks almost always get a better reaction, with less chance of the spectators theorizing as to how it works, than the heavily technical tricks that are on the market.

The fact still remains, though, that to each his own. If you've found this to be mostly useless material, then you have. My suggestion is that you sell it on e-bay and recoup your loss. Otherwise, as Mr. Francis points out, take a look at all that there is on offer in this very ecclectic piece and see if you can't find something that will work for you.

Either way, the general opinion is that this is a worthy purchase.

Mike.

BTW, just to clear up, the only "oops, that's not your card, oh here it is" (magician in trouble) effects on the dvd are:

Insecure restoration
Triumph Transpo
Stuffed
CF Switch

That's 4 effects out of 27. And even though they share one common denominator, they are all very different tricks.

My personal view on that is yes maybe you are. I simply Love these DVD’s . This set has saved me a fortune buying individual tricks. Also I feel has given me a lot of ideas for new tricks.

The important thing I feel about all of the BBM DVD’s they give you the opportunity to make each trick your own and to be individual The Omega Mutation at the moment to me is better then RRCM.

The Omega Mutation inspires you not only to do magic but in my view create your own. New or old to Magic you will learn something from any of the BBM DVD’s.

(Steps off the Podium and takes a bow)

Take care all.

although this is a fairly old thread i thought i'd through in what i think of the set.

it was recently on offer so i thought it was worth a punt for £25 (plus REHAB for free). i have worked my through each disk and noted down the tricks i thought were impressive and ones useful for walkaround and worth putting in time to learn. the result was i noted down every trick!!

this set is fantastic. the tricks are great and even if you dont like the actual tricks it is worth a look for the slights.

was worth every penny of £25, probably would have even paid the full £50 for it.

Thanks so much! Even though this has been out for a while, I'm still amazed and very grateful that so many people are getting good use out of it.

Sometimes it's good to ressurect an old thread!

I was sat there last night after a glass of wine and a couple of episodes to many of the X files, and after an episode entitled "The Amazing Maleeni" decided to search through the magic DVD collection for something to watch! This came to hand :)

I think I was a little overwhelmed by the sheer quantity of material on it when I first saw these discs a few months back, and so haven't really given them the time they deserve... there's some great stuff here! Lots of very workable and useable magic!

Anyway, now this is bumped back to the top... If your interested in this, it's currently going in a 3 for £35 thing at Dude thats cool magic, which seems like a pretty good deal to me (I also got "Welcome to the firm" which is also excellent, and "10 below Zero")

Actually it's always good to resurrect an old thread if you can - it saves the Mods having to search and merge separate threads on identical topics!

I'm going to resurrect this thread once again, just to to say so far this set is fantastic. I'm gonna be honest and say I've not watched it all yet but what I have seen is workable and to echo what's already said the effects nicely allow for some originality.

I'm a big fan of BBM (and the BBM humor!) Even better was getting the set for £9.99 as a daily deal, Bargain!
