I didn't fail at all last night! Of course, I performed no magic, which might have had something to do with it.

Well that sounds pretty awful. But happy birthday.

Yesterday, my high school's musical of Bye Bye Birdie was extremely successful. Packed house, standing ovation, everything. And during the intermission, I successfully did a few bits of mental magic that left the backstage crew talking. PK touches, psychological forces, muscle reading, metal bending, etc.

I'm in the pit orchestra, and we actually sounded good (for a change)

I guess we stole your success...

Happy Birthday!

Currently Reading "House of Mystery" (Abbott, Teller), Tarbell, Everything I can on busking

Yes, these things happen. I'm not feeling down about it or anything, I was merely amazed by how many things could go wrong during one evening. By the time the ambulance arrived I really was having a good old larf about it all.

When you invite the great unwashed to join you onstage, sooner or later it's going to come back and bite you on the backside.

Thanks for all the good wishes - I had a great birthday. I got some cool comics and Japanese horror films, plus a wedge of cash to spend on magic stuff. Have already ordered Zenner Tech.

I have seen it all (and i am sure the mighty wand has too!) I have had people vomit on the cards (no i am not joking!), farting spectators on stage, a fight breaking out, swearing and all sorts. Yes it all goes on but that is what makes it fun.

Yep, I wouldn't (couldn't) do anything else for a living now. Cut us open and we bleed showbiz!

Working with real people is what makes it all interesting.
I tend to pick the people who join me on stage carefully, someone who is up for it but not too much of an exhibitionist. I have some fools who have trouble counting, reading and remembering things before. During a 'word association' during a BIP book routine some fool connected the word 'racing' with 'rocking horse' rather than 'sports car'.
Luckily I managed to think on my toes and work out what had happened and still pulled it off. It certainly tests your capacity for spontaneous thought, doing this sort of thing.
