As magic is so mystifying, music is so soul searching. For as long as I can remember music has been a part of my life. It always amazes me how music can be so mood enhancing. It can bring moments of extreme sadness and happiness within minutes of each other. Reflecting and reminiscing brings along with it moments of madness and mayhem, excitement and joy yet also sadness and remorse.
My early days brought the Kinks, The Stones, The Seekers,The Who. How about John Paul Young and Limmie Family Cookin ? Did someone mention "You dont have to be a star" by Marilyn McCoo. Ahh distant memories of a wasted childhood.
The eighties brought us Shalamar, Luther Vandross, Whitney, Wham, The Gap Band, Bad Manners and among others Black Lace (Agadoo), The Tweets (Birdie Song) and Nick Kamen (Each Time You Break My Heart).
Jaki Graham was stepping right up, Oran Juice jones was singing in the rain, the cutting crew died in our arms and Sinita was being so macho.
Jacky Wilson had the sweetest feeling, Lionel Richie was dancing on his ceiling, and the blow monkeys were saying it doesnt have to be this way.
How about the new romantics, Duran, Spandau, Visage, Ultravox, Japan. Now theres an era my parents warned me about.
The nineties brought us Bon Jovi, Aerosmith and Nirvana. It also brought us Salt N Pepa, Right Said Fred and Billy Ray Cyrus breaking his achey heart.
Gina g was being OOO Ahh just a little bit, Ricky Martin was livin the vida loca and The Vengaboys were telling us to have sex on the beach.
These days Snow Patrol, Manic Street, Beyonce and the reformed Take That are all making memories for people who at the moment dont even realise it.
I havnt even mentioned what people regard as the legends in music such as Elvis, The Beatles, Queen and even to some people Mr Blobby ( he did have a number one remember).
I hope this trip down memory lane managed to trigger a few memories of days gone by, some good some bad probably, but most of all it was meant to show that each era brings with it music which entertains and brings enjoyment to our lives.
