Wondered when someone might bring these guys (or rather, that guy) up! Yes. But they've put out so much stuff, and a lot of it IMHO is really only so-so. I think one compiled album of great The Fall songs would be enough for me.

Thing is, it would be a different album for everyone. I personally love "Containers and Their Drivers" but I know plenty who don't. But there's some brilliant stuff they've done... F'oldin' Money, Theme from Sparta F.C., Touch Sensitive, Kicker Conspiracy, The Classical...

Anyone like Half Man Half Biscuit?!

Incidentally, of all the songs you know, what's the one with the least realistic plot? I don't mean outright fantasy - being eaten by dragons may be unrealistic, but it would be pointless to draw attention to the fact. I mean songs that leave you thinking, "yeah right, as if that would ever happen".

I nominate Reilly, a song by John Hoban, in which a man in an Irish pub speaks at length about why he deserves a glass of whiskey and shouldn't be criticised for ordering one at the bar. A nice song, but since when does someone in an Irish pub need to defend the act of buying a drink?

In fact, my nomination may be untoppable - is it even possible to have a plot less realistic than that?

P.S. Lady of Mystery, when you've found it, you know where to find me. :D

As magic is so mystifying, music is so soul searching. For as long as I can remember music has been a part of my life. It always amazes me how music can be so mood enhancing. It can bring moments of extreme sadness and happiness within minutes of each other. Reflecting and reminiscing brings along with it moments of madness and mayhem, excitement and joy yet also sadness and remorse.

My early days brought the Kinks, The Stones, The Seekers,The Who. How about John Paul Young and Limmie Family Cookin ? Did someone mention "You dont have to be a star" by Marilyn McCoo. Ahh distant memories of a wasted childhood.

The eighties brought us Shalamar, Luther Vandross, Whitney, Wham, The Gap Band, Bad Manners and among others Black Lace (Agadoo), The Tweets (Birdie Song) and Nick Kamen (Each Time You Break My Heart).

Jaki Graham was stepping right up, Oran Juice jones was singing in the rain, the cutting crew died in our arms and Sinita was being so macho.

Jacky Wilson had the sweetest feeling, Lionel Richie was dancing on his ceiling, and the blow monkeys were saying it doesnt have to be this way.

How about the new romantics, Duran, Spandau, Visage, Ultravox, Japan. Now theres an era my parents warned me about.

The nineties brought us Bon Jovi, Aerosmith and Nirvana. It also brought us Salt N Pepa, Right Said Fred and Billy Ray Cyrus breaking his achey heart.

Gina g was being OOO Ahh just a little bit, Ricky Martin was livin the vida loca and The Vengaboys were telling us to have sex on the beach.

These days Snow Patrol, Manic Street, Beyonce and the reformed Take That are all making memories for people who at the moment dont even realise it.

I havnt even mentioned what people regard as the legends in music such as Elvis, The Beatles, Queen and even to some people Mr Blobby ( he did have a number one remember).

I hope this trip down memory lane managed to trigger a few memories of days gone by, some good some bad probably, but most of all it was meant to show that each era brings with it music which entertains and brings enjoyment to our lives.

Queen all the way!! Although I do think that their new look (Minus the late Freddie Mercury  and John Deacon) is disappointing. May and Taylor with a new front man just isn't Queen anymore

Whoa, whoa, whoa! When did 1/2 of Queen revive itself? Last I checked May was into producing and Taylor was living the high life in some country estate.

Barton: Have you read the Bible, Pete?
Pete: Holy Bible?
Barton: Yeah.
Pete: Yeah, I think so. Anyway, I've heard about it.

I love the Shins!

My favorite bands at the moment though...

The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, Foo Fighters, Arctic Monkeys, Air Traffic, Sufjan Stevens.

I tried to limit it. The list is actually a lot longer but right now those are my main ones.
