I finally performed PK Touches by Banachek

Postby Ian The Magic-Ian » Apr 6th, '08, 05:19

I performed this on a camp out with dim flashlights, under a tent, for limited people. I think it worked better with a smaller group it seemed more dramatic and intimate. But the story of the dead uncle in the middle of the woods freaked them out, so they had no trouble believing the effect. I got nervous, but... it went perfectly and I don't know I'm just happy I actually got to perform it. :D

Barton: Have you read the Bible, Pete?
Pete: Holy Bible?
Barton: Yeah.
Pete: Yeah, I think so. Anyway, I've heard about it.

Go back and re-read the opening pages in Steve's manuscript -- this effect was originally designed for small "Parlor" groups... less than two-dozen guests. Steve's big contribution (along with Lior and others) was to transform the idea into an appropriate bit of business for larger group settings and theatrical type settings.

I've never had the kind of psychological success with this routine when using it for larger groups, that I gain with smaller ones.

Does trick require a gimmick or can it be performed impromptu?

Good for you for finally having chance to perform this!

I did this a cpouple of years ago for half a dozen people at a halloween party. Combined with Ghost Vision and a bit of spooky storytelling, people were genuinely convinced that the story I told them about the place being haunted was true.

D_Sharp, the effect can be done impromptu with nothing but other items can be brought into play to make it look a bit cleaner and possibly easier too.

Impromptu, but very, very ballsy.
you also have to set up an atmosphere that suites the effect.

Personally, the time I used this was in the evening, during the intermission of a musical. Being in the pit orchestra (playing trumpet), I had access underneath the stage. It's not very well lit, and the stage is said to be haunted. Perfect.

Currently Reading "House of Mystery" (Abbott, Teller), Tarbell, Everything I can on busking

I never thought to do this with ghost vision that would be creepy.
