Hi my name is JP from Leicester England.

I have been half heartedly been studying card magic for a long time now, but I am hoping to escalate my interest and dedicate some time to becomeing a performer.

Just wodering how long it has taken you all to progress from total beginner to working a routine? and how much of an obsession it has to be, lol.

Did you do nothing but study and practice for 5 years, or is it possible with less dedication.

Cheers

Hi JP, welcome to TM.

It's not really all that difficult to put together a half decent card routine but you do need to practice. I guess when I stared out I took a good 4 months or so learning cards and putting together a routine before I went out and showed anyone.

A couple good books to learn from are Mark Wilsons Complete Course which has a brilliant cards section as well as covering other areas of magic and Royal Road to Card Magic.

Hi JP and welcome to TM.

You may want to consider learning a few non card routines before going out to perform, perhaps adding some coin work. Only a suggestion though!

Nice to meet you, welcome and stick with magic. It's the best thing I've ever done. :D

Barton: Have you read the Bible, Pete?
Pete: Holy Bible?
Barton: Yeah.
Pete: Yeah, I think so. Anyway, I've heard about it.

Hi all, thanks for your lovely welcome. I am keen to get good, but as im sure you know, it aint easy this magic lark.. and I tend to get disheartened when im struggling with a technique.

But it sure is fun. :D
