my prediction for the next 3 weeks...in order...

trick
treat
trick

:P

and it wasnt meaning any disrespect on the fact it was simple! I did say I liked the way he played it up!

Just for me, I prefer the more complex stuff, to view ;)

for anyone who's got Virgin on Demand (none of the obvious smutty jokes please, I have to put up with them enough at home) there's one of Derren's live shows on there. Well worth watching, we watched it last night and I must say the way he takes 'simple' ideas and makes them into something so much more than what they are is fascinating. If you watch this, look out for the name of your first crush effect. Had me baffled for a minute or two, a beautifully put together routine.

Are you talking about Something Wicked This Way Comes, which has been on Channel 4 a few times? Or you mean a different live show?

That's the one, Queenie. I couldn't think of the name of it when I wrote my post. :D

Memory playing up - Wasn't the cat drawn by the girl in Trick or Treat very similar to the drawing reproduction in Something Wicked This Way Comes?

Yeah, that's a fantastic video. For people who don't have Virgin on Demand you can also get it on Google Video. The climax of the show absolutely blew me away the first time I saw it!

Unless my memory is also playing up, the drawing in SWTWC was a mouse.

I think you're talking about The Gathering, with the celebrity audience, where he uses Krishnan Guru Murthy and Reese Shearsmith. Maybe... There was definitely a cat in that one.

Thanks Q of C - yes, thinking about it was a mouse. May have looked very similar to the cat in T or T.

To me...I think they have all be treats! Even last nights trick was really a treat.
I mean the girl she learnt so much and looked like she was having a good time. If I was kidnapped Id be screamin'my head off.

I didn't like last nights show very much. Basically he just taught her some of the secrets of escapology and dragged it out to make it seem like a lot more was going on. Then he shoved her in a bag that she knew how to escape from and she escaped from it. Fair enough, but not the most thrilling 25 minutes of TV I've ever seen.

Last nights was good but yeah not the best by any means, series 2 was getting brilliant and then this came....
But still series 2 has tricks on such a bigger scale compared to the first one :D

My girlfriend and I both thought it was quite a weak show. The espoused principles at work came across as silly (I don't know how a wholly lay audience would find them, though), and the final escape seemed a bit of an anti-climax (and flipping cold).

It was an okay show, but in my eyes it has really gone down hill since the last series. The knot effect...made me cringe.

Well, whereas in series 1, it was ambiguous as to what the cards said (as they were ambigrams) series 2 has made it ambiguous as to the nature of the effect.

Quiz: This is the only one where I cannot see how it could be a trick
Kitten: You saw the outcome if she picked Treat. If it was a trick, he just doesn't give her the money at the end. (i.e. he doesn't point out the technicality of "oh well you didn't kill the kitten so you get the money").
Time Travel: Yes it is a treat, but if he had picked trick, it could have been changed it to something like "I made you think you were in the 50s". I can't think of how he would have presented the newspaper prediction had The Doctor chosen Trick. Any ideas??
Kidnap: You saw it as a trick. If she picked Treat, it would be presented as "I am going to teach you some mediumistic states of mind which could be useful"

It's only a theory, but it seems to be working so far. Let's see whether the others could be presented either way...

Friday nights one I didn't like...

It kinda ruined it when they said "Derren sent us to kidnap you"

Pretty silly then...should have left it so it wouldn't have been a "Derren sent us"

I definally saw how he forces them to pick either trick or treat though! And it is 100% certain every time! :D
