Stand-Up Progressive Wild Coin

Postby HenryHoudini » May 10th, '08, 20:17

Does anyone know anything about Nathan Kranzo's new effect, Stand-Up Progressive Wild Coin? It looks good enough, and I'll probably buy it regardless of what you say,, but it'd be good to see a review.

Here's a link:

Hmmm, I just paid for the download, got a confirmation and everything and then....nothing. I can't find out how to actually go about downloading the thing, all I can think is that it might take a while to process the payment. Anyone got any ideas?

Ok so the link came through a little while later, panic over.

It's a great little quick magical effect that should play exactly as it looks on the demo. A gimmick is required which you'll probably have if you do any coin magic although I frustratingly can't find mine anywhere so I might have to buy another, they're about £20 in the UK which is a bu**er considering the trick was only about 3 quid. Never mind.

There are two slightly different handlings taught on the short video download, one of which is the original and slightly more difficult version shown in the demo and the other which is a tad easier but less visual. The effect isn't diminished by the easier one but the changes aren't quite as flashy and 'instant', personally I think the difference in difficulty isn't enough to put anyone off learning the demo one.

Overall the difficulty is a 3-4 on the TM scale as you'll need to be quite proficient at one of the less common coin palms. If you can already do it then the routine is more a case of learning the order rather than practicing any moves, if you don't then depending on your current level of skill it may take a few days or weeks to get up to speed.

The video is short but sweet, quality is fine and it's not rushed but he doesn't go into super dissection of every phase. For the price though it should be expected and really this is a fantastic bargain, if you're thinking about it you should get it.

8/10

I think an instant download should say if a gimmick is needed to acieve the result as part of the trades description act, its a bit like buying a car only to find you need to buy a key to turn it on.
I have no problem with people saying routine only $5, routine and gimmick $30, iv'e had a few downloads in my time that have left me cold because they expect you to have certain gimmicks or multiples there of.

I'm glad your happy on the whole with the routine and still feel its value for money despite the extra bit needed. :)

I know what you mean Jason, if I was newer to magic I would have been quite annoyed. Then again we could argue all day about what exactly should be in the descriptions of the effects you buy

As I said it's a fairly common gimmick as it's part of a pretty standard gaff coin routine that a lot of beginners buy. Just a shame that I can't find mine right now.

So I bought this routine just now, and I've come up with a few tips. Well one.

I say, don't use the palm he says to use, use the... What's it called... Not the classic palm... The "Edge" palm, I think it's called. That's what I've been using and it's been freeing up my hand A LOT. Just a little word of advice.

It doesn't look like something I'd buy but a great looking effect.

Barton: Have you read the Bible, Pete?
Pete: Holy Bible?
Barton: Yeah.
Pete: Yeah, I think so. Anyway, I've heard about it.
