I love your design, queen; in fact, it's the best one I've seen so far. And the font you've used for Magic is nice, too. That would look really good in shiny or matt silver, but definitely not plastic. Enamel is best I reckon.

I voted "no" as I have a London Society of Magicians badge and a Magic Circle badge and to me both these carry more prestige than a badge that says "talkmagic" on it.
I feel enamel pin badges have that snobby thing going on with them.
I really love this forum and so I dont mean to be a poo I'm just being honest.
However, a funky hoody is another ting ;) but even then I think I'd rather it said "TM" and had "stuff" on it like Chris' logo (minus the mouth maybe) than "talkmagic" which sounds a bit like a radio station.

I'm not near any graphics software at the moment, i'd be more inclined to take a pinch from the band The Who, and have the T form the first part of the M and make it as a wierd kinda symbol rather than just a logo...

but i did vote for "not interested" or whatever it was, i wasnt paying attention..

I'm not a fan of wearing badges...not since the early 80s any way... :)

I quite like the first one. In fact, it would make a nice car decal for the rear windscreen.

I love the second one, bananafish. It looks like a more elegant, smart and professional version of the current site logo (which I'm sure is exactly what you were going for!).

Even if it's not chosen for a badge it chould replace the current logo without much fuss, I bet.

I like those logos better than the current one just because that shadow is quite odd.

I don't mean to step on any toes, but I've been around for a couple years and these badge discussions always start up the same way:

"hey, anyone interested?"
"Yeah, probably, depends on x, y, z"
---- where x = cost, y = shipping, and z = design
"cool"

What needs to happen, in my opinion, is someone to come up with a design, a funding source, an implementation plan, and a general idea of cost (dependent upon interest, I would assume) and "pitch" that.

This way people can say "Yes", "Yes with a different price", "Yes with a modified design" or "No".

Until then I think we'll just keep chasing our tails.

On the contrary, you've probably made a good point there. I suspect Mandrake's earlier comment may hint at the progress some of us have been hoping for...

I'd buy one. Preferably one without reference to any specific area of magic (cards, coins, etc.), since we cover such a wide range. Bunnies and top hats tend to look dated nowadays, although Magic Bunny manages to pull it off. Wands seem to be a timeless universal symbol, though.

Personally, I like Seige's speech bubble from the previous thread. A clean design, and clear even if reduced to badge size. Also emphasises the fact that this is a talk forum.

Bananafish's ideas just above are pretty darn cool, too. Who knows, maybe whatever we choose might become the new official logo...?

But I wouldn't actually wear a badge very often. Any chance of a T-shirt?
