Habits/Supersitions

Postby thebigcheese » May 14th, '08, 14:31

Does anyone else have certain habits they do without thinking about it related to cards/coins/whatever your 'bag' is? I personally have to riffle shuffle a deck when I take it out the box regardless what I intend to do with it..An overhand simply wont do! I also have a habit of having to flip a coin if I get it from someone-not as a misdirection aid-just being a creature of habit I think!
Anyone else suffer from this affliction??

I tend to riffle down the side of the deck like a one handed riffle f***e, didn't know if those words would reveal anything.  I would usually also whenever someone hands me a deck, I'll show off with charliers, swings, fancy ultimate illogical cuts, split fans is also one thing I always tend to do even if in the middle of a trick.

Barton: Have you read the Bible, Pete?
Pete: Holy Bible?
Barton: Yeah.
Pete: Yeah, I think so. Anyway, I've heard about it.

Get the money before you start performing and check where the fire exits are for a swift exit.

split fans is also one thing I always tend to do even if in the middle of a trick.

When watching somebody perform, that is the one thing that drives me absolutelty insane. I really disapprove of constant movement and flourishes during a trick. I find it can really take away from the effect.

:o I ALWAYS palm my Oyster Card and brush my hand along the machine and frequently get funny looks from the driver. Bank cards just aren't flexible enough for my liking, I'm scared it's gonna snap!

I have developed an annoying habit of spinning my debit card on my finger before handing it over to a cashier. I have no idea why I do it, it can only make me look strange.

I seem to be quite incapable of holding onto 2 coins without bobo-switching them, a 50p/£2 coin without coin rolling it or speaking to someone without making a mentalist style guess about something.

You wont find much better anywhere and it's nothing - a rigmarole with a few bits of paper and lots of spiel. That is Mentalism

Yeh I always produce a train ticket out of a tenkai palm.

I find myself doing the W.E.R.M increasingly more often.. along with coin rolls.

I tend to also shprt change shop keepers, then produce the last coin from somwhere, but do it nonchalently, and dont make a deal of it.

My 'dupes' are always either 3H/d, 4S, 7S/C or 9D. Then I open a brand new deck to use as a feeder and disregard the rest of the unsused deck.

Bingo, I'll make the card appear then spin the it on my finger. Then I'll buy lifesavers or something and vanish them using the flip vanish after I make the purchase.

Not a habit as such, but I did go through a phase of using my money roller when paying for things in shops. I used to carry around blank sheets of paper in my wallet. One shop owner threatened to call the police! I had to leave without my Reese's Pieces but at least I wasn't arrested.

I'm so glad I'm not the only one...

I also always do some kind of palm if I have a coin or two in my hand. It's practice... right?
