Hmm, I think my attempt at humour might have come across wrong, so I've deleted it.

Incidentally, for anyone who would like to see Derren's show with its brand new set, there are still a few days left to run at the Palace Theatre.

Honestly, I should be on commission.

Hello there.

I just saw the last show of the run tonight at the Palace Theatre, and I came away a bit disappointed. I'd previously been impressed with his performances on TV, but here I think he was simply not good enough. There were some wobbles, which are fine, but the seams were visible on a couple of the bigger pieces and I felt rather cheated.

However, as it was the last show he said it was no longer necessary to ask people not to talk about the second half - so I need to ask another person who went on another night about how he selected the person for whom he could identify facts about their dead person.
By this I mean, did he use the ouija board to make the selection, and if so, can you tell me the specifics? I will reveal mine if someone else does first, just so it shows I'm not leading anyone :P

Anyway, I searched for "derren brown" "magic square" on Google to match this site/thread, as I was a bit miffed at how people in the audience thought this was such a fantastic 'reveal'. So that's how I got here to ask my favour!

Hello!

You will have noticed from reading the thread that you might be in a bit of a minority in being dissapointed at the show! I'm afraid you can't really talk about the mechanics of the selection here since it is an open part of the forum, but yes, he did use the ouija board for the selection in the other shows.

And according to Derren's Forum, he will be on Magic Cafe:

Please join us as we welcome special guest Derren Brown who will be available for questions and magical topics starting September 14th thru the 16th!
That's right, THREE DAYS ONLY! Because of Derren's current work schedule, this was the only time available, so don't miss this rare opportunity.

Please remember that Derren is our honored guest and we ask that you give him all the courtesy and honor due him. Please know also that all questions for him should be posted in this forum only, as he will be going here exclusively for three days.

According to the folks at www.magicweek.co.uk:

Derren Brown Trick of the Mind (Rpt)
11pm on Sunday 28th November (35 minutes) on E4.
"Psychological illusionist and former magician Derren Brown demonstrates his unique powers. In this first show Derren amazes magic fan Stephen Fry and appears to erase the 'knowledge' of a London cabbie. He simultaneously plays chess with nine of Britain's leading chess masters."

Derren Brown Trick of the Mind (Rpt)
11.35pm on Sunday 28th November (30 minutes) on E4.
"Psychological illusionist and former magician Derren Brown demonstrates his unique powers. Derren puts hard man Martin Kemp under his influence and predicts where QPR striker Marc Bircham will place his penalties."

But most importantly:

Derren Brown Magic Special - Now listed as Mind Control 3
9pm on Monday 29th November and again at 12.30am 30th November (1 hour) on E4. Also on E4+1 at 10.00pm and 1.30am, same dates as above.
Details to be announced but the Sky guide says Derren is back with another special featuring more amazing mind games with the public.

Apparently the special is a repeat of one of Derren's 'Mind Control' programmes (the hour long ones, not the series). It seems to be the third one, according to what people on Derren's forum have been saying.
