Misunderstandings

OK, was just curious as to how many magical misunderstandings happen in your everyday lives? Let me elaborate:

Upon returning from a magic convention my friends asked me if I had learned/bought anything new. I replied that I looked around the dealers and picked up a few items, but that i wouldn't be sharing them with anyone for some time, as I had only just gout them.

My friends automatically assumed that I was now into drugs, what with the talk of dealers!

So, anyone else talked about something magical only to have their friends/family go "What?!?!?!"

With the greatest of respect to your friends, they don't seem like the sharpest tools in the box, eh? They obviously knew you had just been to a magic convention, so the sudden leap to drug dealers makes no sense whatsoever. In fact, I suspect they were just winding you up.

No they actually didn't know where I was as it was a last minute thing.
And no, some of them aren't the sharpest tools :P
But yes... it was said in jest.
Was just wondering if anyone else had had similar experiences?

Years ago we used to host magic lectures. One of our earliest lectures was David Roth and we advertized it to the magic community in Montreal. It seems there was a great deal of confusion as it leaked from the magic community to the entertainment community in general. We got a lot larger response then expected. We soon figured out that some wanted tickets because they thought it was a David LEE Roth concert.
