Postby MickyScouse » May 27th, '08, 20:11

Completely forgot to post this last week. Derren Brown did a 60 second interview for metro last tuesday. Here's the link for any of you Mr. B stalkers (I'm looking at you Q of C)

He was actually on radio 2 last Saturday (I think it was last Saturday!) doing an interview. he was brilliant. He's always so unassuming and concise when he does these things. :D

James, 19, Lifelong student of magic and will carry on learning for the rest of my days if I'm a very lucky boy.

Mainly appropriate to UK members, on page 521 of BBC1 Teletext service today is a short interview with Derren, mainly focussing on his recent coming out 'news' but all treated very low key. It's the sort of interview you'd expect in anticipation of a forthcoming show or TV special but as BBC don't show his stuff, it's just there as a bit of news I suppose!

Thanks, I'll keep an eye out.

I don't own his first two as they currently cost more than I'm willing to pay for them. I picked up his latest; and while I expected it to be watered down since, from what I understand, it was mass distributed in the UK, it's almost been a chore to get through.

Understandable, especially from the US, but if the lottery comes your way, Pure Effect is the one to have. His other ones get progressively more user friendly and hence less magician-friendly.

Ah, I was only fingering through my third edition copy of Pure Effect yesterday, looking for a printed price in the cover. Couldn't find one but I know it's worth so much more now, in the absence of owning my own home I have to make do with a rare book. I wonder if it would increase the value much if it was signed? Hmmm, maybe that house isn't as far away as I first thought.

I was always told that signed books by ex-Prime Minister Ted Heath were less valuable than those unsigned, as he did so much signing. I have a signed copy of his Music book

While rather rare and expensive, I wouldn't exactly put it in the "down payment" category yet.

Unless the down payment is on a plane ticket or something...
