Linking

Postby Ian The Magic-Ian » Jun 7th, '08, 19:59

I'm putting together a routine and It's based on linking things, I already have linking rings and linking loops of ropes, I need one more thing to put it all together. Oh and it's a stage routine. Thanks,

Ian

How about linking cards?

Maybe jumbo cards, on stage.

How about linking safety pins?

You could tie some comedy in to say that you'll use the pins to link the rope but the pins get linked first and then the rope links without the pins.

I don't know exactly, but I think it's a pretty large stage between 400 and 500 people at a convention. So I'm uncertain if the linking safety pins would look good on a large stage.

Michael Caveney does a hilarious routine with Linking Coat Hangers...you might want to look into that.

Other ideas that come to mind are linking chairs, hula hoops, neckties and possibly linking microphone cords. You could have some fun creating some really cool looking illusions.

What about a strong mentalism effect that "links" two spectators minds. Any recommendations? The act kind of phases into a more figurative meaning of linking. Thanks.

please no! it just wouldnt fit together...going from rope to rings to mind-reading...

why not go wierd and try and blow a bubble using one of the rings and some strong soapy water? then you're linking the bubbles together and maybe produce the rope from out of them popping instead?

but please! no mentalism...

I never looked at the bigger picture. I think I'll go with Mike Caveney's linking coat hangers.

abraxus writes, in part: "please no! it just wouldnt fit together...going from rope to rings to mind-reading...

Why not? Annemann would do a cut and restored rope in the middle of his mentalism act. And, if it was good enough for Ted. . .

cheers,

The thing I like about magic is that as soon as someone says, 'you cant do' or ' you shouldn't do', somebody else proves that you can and should!
