Hi guys, new here!

Hi guys, I'm Rick and I'm from Middlesbrough. Have been interested in magic since I was about 6 but have only just started to take up learning magic over the last year (as much as I tried to learn when I was a child I usually got distracted by something shiny!). My favourite magicians were always Paul Daniels when I was a kid, and more recently Paul Zennon and Derren Brown.

I've just finished studying Royal Road to Card Magic and have worked through the card and coin section of Mark Wilsons Complete Course in Magic and am just about to move onto Expert Card Techniques. I'm mostly interested in learning Card tricks but i've been on stage since I was a child so I would like to learn as much about stage illusions and stage magic as possible so if any of you can point me in the right direction then i'd appriciate it :).

So hi to all of you I'm looking forward to being involved in a community with similer interests to me as I don't speak to many people who have any interest in magic at all in day to day life, and I'm looking forward to learning from people who are more expirianced and know more than me!

Rich

Hiya Rick,

What kind of stage magic are you looking at getting into. I don't know much about big illusions but I've done a few silent stage routines to music.

Anyhow, welcome to TM :D

Hi guys, thanks for the warm welcome.

Lady of Mystery, I do want to do stage performances with small-scale magic, involving cards, coins, ropes, etc. I've been flicking through Mark Wilson's complete course in magic and there seems to be a bit of everything in there so I'm going to study that. What sort of routines did you do, and from your expiriance what got the best sort of reactions?

Although in the long run I would like to learn and perform big illusions, although they aren't really in fashion in the UK at the moment :(... does anyone know what sort of books I should get to get a bit of a grounding in that?
