My introduction

Postby shippers » Jun 21st, '08, 12:13

Hello all.

I'm Jon, I'm 36, from Sheffield and I'd describe myself as an eager noobie

I was obsessed by magic as a child and was the proud purveyor of some tricks. However, real life took over and I put my hat and cape away for other more 'adult' hobbies. Mostly football, girls and the pub if I'm perfectly honest.

Anyway, a month or so back I found a TT lying in the street. I recognised it from my childhood and immediately picked it up and set to work with it. My interest has been reinvigored and I find myself here on this forum.

I've purchased a few tricks since then - mostly simple stuff like bitten coins, pen through note etc and I'm now about to buy my first 'big' trick. I've had a read through the reviews and think I'm going to plump for Interlace.

Wish me luck!

Welcome to TalkMagic. Amazing you found a TT on the street, I would be delighted! I lost my Pen Thru Note and life has never been the same!

I hope you enjoy it here, theres plenty to read!

It was quite bizarre I'll admit. My wife pointed at it and said 'what the hell is that?' and I instantly knew and recollected. TBH it still amazes me how few people actually realise what a TT is and what it's for.

Quick question - I'd like some advice about what tricks I should be going for but I can't find what would be the appropriate place. Can someone point me in the right direction?

Well if you post in the miscellaneous thread some information about what you like to perform, people will direct you towards reviews for tricks that match. Give me a PM and i'll see if I can help too.

Hi Jon,

Welcome to TM.

I personally would reccomend you purchaes a couple of books rather than tricks, you'll learn a lot more from them and have your monies worth. I reccommend (As will probably most of the regulars on here) you get Mark Wilsons complete course in magic and also Royal road to card magic (Often referred to as RRTCM on this forum). These will serve you better than any trick.

Cheers
Taf
