From out of the bush!

Hello from ron0.
I am honoured(gee, I can use Brit spellings again!)to be on the same page as the most impressive, Steve Axtell of California.
I am a dedicated amateur ventriloquist(Axtell's Floyd and the baby chimp vent figures).
I am hoping on this forum to get ideas from magicians on gimmicks/effects which might be done with one hand while animating a vent figure. The left hand is not really free since it's hitting IPOD effects;CD backgrounds, and, of course, gesturing. My sense in my late nursery shows so far is that it is difficult to twin vent and basic magic..especially the rope effects I enjoy. It looks likes a opening magic illusions will be the answer.
Consequently, I shall ask for ideas on that topic and beg your patience.
I believe that for a colonial I have a passable grasp of England, although my Angleterre is North Yorkshire, up around Mashham(Old Peculiar) with periodic raids to the Stray in Harrogate; the church in Masham( from where I got great Gold/Juno beaches stories and also St. Aelred's church which is not in the dales. A prayer to The Other that I get going more on the update of my book on Irish emigration to Quebec in the late 17th and 18th centuries. I drive people for fares and drive my tractor for work stuff. I have had 51 jobs;two careers. and believe that doubt is a crucial part of a healthy spirituality. Nice to meet you. Get the habit, taxicab it.ron0

It's not really an optical illusion - it just looks like one!

If you want to learn ropes, Karl Fulves Self Working Rope Magic is a great place to start off, that and the Encyclopedia of Rope Trick are both good books.

Love your mentalist act..actually Fulves is to be purchased when I re enter urban places in about 2 weeks and go to the Big Smoke(Trawna).
I was also thinking of Abbot's Encyclopedia of Rope Tricks..do you know of it?
Also, which thread on this site deals with rope tricks?
It's dark outside..beautiful summer dawn..emphasis today is going to the printer to relay some materials for that darned book and transplanting some pumpkin plants.
Vent Haven convention on July 14th in Fort Mitchell, Kentucky will be a needed religious retreat.
Again, thanks for the welcome.ron0.
