Don't think he's got any books which are currently in print, I might be wrong though.

Thought I'd correct derren's misspelled name in the topic, it's been annoying me for ages, hope Mr Brown didn't see it.

Yeah, TeeJay. I've noticed the David Blaine section has his last name spelled with a "lower case" b. I wonder if he has noticed. :)

I believe there is a mind numbingly simple explanation to how this effect is done and I am happy to post it in the Magician Only Section if anyone is interested.

No worries Daz, I'll set up a new post in the Magician's section later today.

BTW those Michael Ammar video's you sent me are great and you've just got to love the guy himself. He obviously absolutely loves what he does for a living (and what aspiring magician wouldn't want to be in his shoes) and he has a great style. I notice however that unlike the Blaine's of this world, he enjoys the tricks AS tricks, rather than going all heavy and magical on us like Blaine. I like to think that’s my way of doing magic (although I’ve got about 50 years of practise ahead of me to get to his standard!)

Any of you guys see the Derren Brown's 'Mind Control' on Channel 4, friday 28th Feb 2003?

I was amazed when he 'taught' the female spec to read the guy's mind and determine the object he was thinking of.

Any of you clever guys got any idea how he/she did it?

Wish I could say yes to that one, but it's not really my area, though I am planning to move into mentalism pretty soon.

I too am blown away with Derren Brown's effects. It is almost difficult to keep in mind the fact that they are just "tricks". I have absolutely no idea how he performs this effect, but then before Blaine hit the scene big time, anyone seeing his effects would have thought exactly the same. Now of course, many of his effects have been exposed, which is a real shame.

I think Derren Brown does some fairly standard mentalism in his shows, though I'm not saying that I would recognise it if he did, but it is the presentation that makes it work. you don't see him getting people to write stuff down then tearing the paper up and burning it before he tells you what they were thinking! He is also a very good card magician though you won't see him do card tricks any more, I have mentioned his video on this and other sites many times because it is so great and though it is not on sale any more you really should try to get your hands on it.
