Loose a selected card (help needed)

Postby djhsa80 » Jul 11th, '08, 10:53

hi all, just a quick question, what is the best way to loose a selected card in a pack of cards. e.g. someones selects a card puts in back in the deck then you make it vanish from the deck. any ideas would be great.

many thanks

I use my fairy, she waves her wand and it magically vanishes.

Or if you don't know a good fairy breeder (I can always give you a few numbers) any decent card book should give you some ideas. Royal Road is a great place to start learning card magic :D

How about you ask the spectator to pick a card....they take the card....and you just walk off. Think of the endless anticipation and wonderment the spectator will feel for the rest of their lives eager to know how the trick will end. They keep it in their wallet in fear you may turn up at any point and ask them to place it anywhere they wish in the pack. Tragically, on their death bed 62 years later all they have to their name is their denches and the aged plastic coated Bicycle playing card....the 4 of clubs.

I agree with Lady of Mystery....Royal Road to Card Magic will show you plenty of ways to 'lose' a card. Can't believe she hasn't mentioned Mark Wilson this time though :)

You could use Dai Vernon's method of having a card peeked at and applying some saliva on the back of the card in front of it.

The selection will still to the other card and will be lost.

If you want it to genuinely vanish so that the spec can spread through the cards in her own hands then you need to buy some learning material that teaches how to control and how to cop or palm. If you just want to create the illusion that it has vanished then you need to buy some learning material that teaches the SAC move.

I suggest Oz Pearlman's Stealing Pips DVD (but then again I would, wouldn't I? ;) ).

Set fire to the deck - seriously, this works every time.

Of course, it also destroys the deck, but the spectator will be in awe of your madness far more than any efforts to magically find the card...

...especially if the deck is in their lap at the time of ignition

control it to the top, turn the deck over, get a break above the bottom two (which includes the selection). This allows you to spread thru the deck showing the card gone.

you can easily bottom p**m it from there into your wallet or wherever.

Expert Card Technique (Hugard & Braue) has a couple of chapters in it on stealing and palming cards.
