Hey fellow magicians! I know I am a little bit behind, but I've just finished watching all six seasons of The Sopranos (within the space of about 4 months)...

Any other fans out there? I think I am actually depressed (help Mr Melfi!) at the fact it's all over!

This is the GREATEST TV SHOW EVER and, in my opinion, the final episode and the very last scene in particular are the finest written, most well thought out and finely executed pieces of fiction in the history of TV and film.

*If you haven't seen the end stop reading now!*

David Chase is a genius. A lot of people reacted negatively to the finale but I think that's just because they didn't get it.

Tony is dead - it's as simple as that. I had to watch it a couple of times to figure it out, but that's clearly what Chase wanted us to believe.

If you're in doubt, take a look at this incredible article I found (Soprano die hard fans only!) -

http://masterofsopranos.wordpress.com/t ... f-the-end/

R.I.P. 'T'

I actually got thinking... right from the pilot episode I think Chase knew how this may end. To write 86 episodes and pull it all together so cleverly seems incomprehensively difficult.

Superb.

Big fan of The Sopranos! I agree with your assessment of the end, Tony never made it out of that diner...

Although I don't think there was any big master plan as Chase only ever intended to make three seasons, but then HBO went and gave him a load o' money and out came another three. For a good overview of the whole series, whack "The Sopranos Nine Minute Version" into Youtube.

It's good stuff :)

It might sound stupid, but I do actually feel like he died! Haha! Amazing programme. Any suggestions as to what I can watch next?
Seen all the seasons of 24, didn't like The Shield - Dexter, The West Wing and Six Feet Under have been recommended to me. Oh, and The Wire!

I haven't seen it but I've heard Carnivale is good.

Barton: Have you read the Bible, Pete?
Pete: Holy Bible?
Barton: Yeah.
Pete: Yeah, I think so. Anyway, I've heard about it.

My family will be in NYC next month and my 17yo Soprano freak has heard that there is a Soprano Tour in NJ of relevant places from the series. I will leave him to it :!:

Theres a series called "The Black Donnellys" which is about the Irish Mob familys and the fight for power between the Italian familys. A very well written script (Obviously not as good as The Sopranos, but what will...) The only downside to mentioning this program is that they only filmed 1 season and then canceled it. If this show wasn't cancelled it would have been in the same league as The Sopranos.

Here is the Plot taken from imdb site: "Four very different Irish-American brothers - Kevin, Jimmy, Tommy and Sean - have sworn to live by the code of "family first." But as they become increasingly involved in the ruthless world of New York organized crime, their loyalties to their friends, to their loved ones, and especially to each other will be put to the ultimate test."

If you do a search for "The Black Donnellys" there are many web sites and forums with petitions to get the writers back to airing this amazing program.
