Hi, my name is Danny and I'm new to the world of magic, particularly card magic. I have already purchased The Royal Road to Card Magic book, and have started working my way through it, and have learnt some basic flourishes (such as one handed cutting :D ).

I was considering working throught the RRTCM DVD aswell as the book, but its pricetag is too hefty for me, so I was wondering what DVDs would really be worth my while, with suitable material for a beginner.

Thankyou.

Hi Danny and welcome to TM 8)

From personal experience I would recommend Born to Perform Card Magic by Oz Pearlman and there are a number of books that others will recommend.

If you at some stage decide on the RRTCM DVD then beware that there are two versions, one with 5 and the other with 6 disk. The one to get is the 6 disk version.

It's not really an optical illusion - it just looks like one!

it sounds like you have no problems learning from the printed word.

maybe the next step is to get card college, rather than dvds.

after that, when you have a full grasp of the moves in the books, then learn other peoples routines from dvds, using your own personalized card handling techniques.

Yea, I've seen the 4 disc version on ebay, but I'll stay away from that, and the Paul Wilson version will have to wait.
I will have a look into Card College after I have worked my way through Royal Road, but that doesnt come cheap either, unfortunately for me, but I'm sure its worth the investment.

Thanks for your recommendations.
