Mandrake makes a good point. I think the problem is isolated and specific to Davenports; they are a family business and have been going for years and years and are well established. Problem is, their elitist attitude has alienated a large proportion of customers. It seems that they make you feel like they are doing you a favour by being there to serve you. Frontline staff are the face of your business and by putting Sankey/Blaine wannabes behind the counter to greet and serve customers they are not helping matters.

I should learn to keep my mouth shut. Just had an e-mail from JB Magic:

PLEASE READ IMPORTANT, PLEASE READ IMPORTANT
Hi Everyone.
I hope this newsletter finds you all well. Due to the high volume of internet and telephone orders we now process on a daily basis, along with the combination of manufacturing over 70 items, J B Magic will be closing its bricks and mortar shop in 2 weeks and going over to an online internet and telephone orders only store. Business will continue as per usual.

That's a shame they felt it necessary to close the shop, but I fear this is where things are headed. Have to move with the times I guess.
