no worries. I was a little confused myself to begin with.

I personally wasn't too keen on the after gala party. I was in the spanish hall, and so we got the stage show. The magic itself was great - albeit a little technical trouble for dirk losander if memory serves. But then the dancing music afterwards was far too loud.

All the best,

Hmm all this talk makes me want to go. But three days alone may be a little lonely! Stupid magic and it's silly conventions!!

Nothing wrong with going on your own.

Im going on my own,
I know of at least 6 others who are all going on their own.
Let's all go alone together!

All the best,

Big advantage of going alone is that you can flit from lecture to demo to Dealerr Hall as and when you feel like it without having to check with others about it. There are always clashes of shows/lectures so you have to make decisions to miss some of them and that can be easier if it's just yourself to take into account. There's plenty of time for socialising and the odd sweet sherry or two in the Ruskin afterwards  !

Sold. Buying my ticket tomorrow. Mandrake should be a salesman I think, what with his sweet youthful looks and long flowing robe.

for those of your who havent booked tickets yet...

We've added an 'extra special' podcast - We talk with Derek Lever about Blackpool 2009...

http://www.magicconventionguide.com/200 ... rek-lever/

Top news is that Blackpool is looking to bring FISM to the UK in 2012.. Blackpool hope to bring even more names to the convention this year (2009) including PAUL HARRIS (subject to contracts)

Hopefully 'audiences with...' not only Jeff McBride and Eugene Burger, but James Randi, and Richard Osterlind...

Obviously all subject to contract but I think on just a few of the names alone... its well worth heading up...

And then when you find yourself with 15 minutes with nothing to do you give Lawrence or MajorTom a ring and ask "I'm free for a bit, fancy a pint?" to which you will get a responce or either "I'm in the galleon bar" or "I'm in the upstairs bar" or "I'm in the downstairs bar"

Add dear old Agey to that list of people in the bar as well :)

I really should get my ticket booked and some accommodation sorted out

Christ, the line-up for this year is quite incredible. Randi, Osterlind, Rowland, Burger, Mc Bride and so many more.
I have missed Blackpool for the last ten years due to bookings, lack of money and general laziness to travel so far but this is unmissable. I guess I'll be booking some tickets today and thinking of ways to cancel the booking I have on the Friday night.
Can someone recomend some hotels where drunks are approved of?

The line up is very impressive indeed , I may consider going to blackpool 09 since im only 50 mins away and lose my magic convention cherry

The only thing im not sure about is if i will be here in the UK around that time,I most prob will but dont wish to spend on an advanced ticket just in case im not - I presume that i can pay on the door for a weekend ticket for this event? May cost me a little more i reckon but best taking that route instead of a cheaper unused ticket.

If i do go i will be going alone - that doent really bother me that much as im sure i could arrange to bump into some TM members in the local bars, brothels and police cells

( Does anybody here watch the comedian Karen Taylor? ) * Sings * All by myself...i wanna be aaaalllllllll bbbbbyyyyyyyy myselffffffffff

Yes, Yes and Yes. I'm certain to find myself in all three over the weekend. I've decided not to book a hotel,I'm going to rely on the police and kind hearted hookers (I'm thinking Julia Roberts in that terrible chick flick where prostitution is a respectable career) to find me beds for the nights.

I'll be there with the usual posse from Ipswich.

If anyone is interested though - I may have a couple of tickets (the full works VIP, after show party etc.)

Ill be there

See you in the bar!!! (If you are bored at Blackpool then just head for the bar where you will find a cheeky northerner ith a pint in his hand complaining about how he hates them Magicians that wear flamboyant waistcoats at conventions, and complaining about those magicians that do magic at magic conventions in a desperate attempt to prove they are magicians...)

Anyone got accommodation booked up yet? I'm going to start ringing round places this evening i think. If anyone has any good suggestions (not too expensive please, i don't plan on spending much time there) let me know.
I ended up booking late last year and ending up being the only person in this little out of the way place (which was boring on a morning) so getting in a little earlier this year.

But if all else fails I'll just double up with Waddington
