I was talking to a guy on the Cafe this afternoon who thought it happened this morning. Anyway, Paul's mobile's on answer phone (meaning it's possible he's not in hospital) and there's no one at home, so perhaps he's taking it easy over a few pints somewhere. Best public wishes for a speedy recovery, likesay.

That's a shock. It's so odd reading this news, when I saw him only a couple of days ago.

I am sure that I can say we're all thinking of you, Paul.

I've dropped a note though his door to say we're all thinking of him and sending our wishes for a speedy recovery. Hopefully it'll get passed on one way or another.

Update from "the green forum"

UPDATE:

I have been told that Paul has a number of severely torn muscles in and around his back and ribs and also suspected whiplash.

Recovery will take time but the damages should not be permanent as far as the docs can tell.

I have also been told that all gigs and lectures have been cancelled until further notice.

Wishing him well

I was told that Paul was hospitalized but am uncertain whether he's home as of yet or not.

I believe Roni and my friend Rich are going to do some checking on things; I know Tod has been trying to keep tabs.

I've just spoken to him on the phone, and he seems in good spirits, but he is bed ridden and feeling pretty crappy I think. Not much in the way of broken bones I don't think, but he has torn up a lot of muscles in his chest and spine. It's quite serious, but could have been a lot worse.

He has asked me to pass on his thanks for all the messages of support from the community, and to apologise that he probably won't be able to reply to most as he can scarcely move. Just as an update then, he has been released from hospital and is being looked after by his family, who are also handling all of his sales for his books and stuff.

Not much more to say, I didn't want to keep him on the phone for long all things considered. Get well soon Paul!

That's some good news, it could have been a whole lot worse.

Best wishes Paul.

He dropped us off at Liverpool Street station in good spirits, let's hope they stay with him and bring him back to good health...whiplash can be pretty serious so he will have to take it easy.

Smashing bloke...let's all hope he gets well soon!

Just had a call from a slightly spaced out Mr Brook. Before the painkillers completely kicked in, he said to say he's slowly on the mend and thanks to everyone for their kind thoughts. Unfortunately, he's not near the Internet and anyway is sleeping much of the day, but he'll be back.

Yeah - i got a call this afternoon too - he seemed in fairly good spirits all things considered. He's having to lay on his back for the time being and he's getting restless...bless him.

It's good that he's keeping his mood up - thats the most important thing... :D

all his stuff is still being taken care of by his family - so there shouldnt be any worries with ordering from him...
