Derren Brown Specials DVD

Postby MagicBell » Jul 20th, '08, 21:05

By saying this, im going to sound like a complete Derren Brown fanatic (which im not), because each of my (four) posts to date have mentioned him, but here goes anyway...

On the {3rd} November, they're releasing a boxset of Derren Brown's long specials, as yet unconfirmed which ones but most likely they will be; The Seance, The Heist, Russian Roulette and The Messiah.

Are there any more?

Anyways, there seems to be little info about it so i thought users here may be interested to know about it, and may possibly have more/better information than myself.

If you haven't already seen it, then get Something Wicked This Way Comes. It's superb and the finale is jaw-dropping.

Completely off topic but... Replicant, did you notice that Harrison Ford in your avatar looks exactly like Banachek?

Barton: Have you read the Bible, Pete?
Pete: Holy Bible?
Barton: Yeah.
Pete: Yeah, I think so. Anyway, I've heard about it.

I too may sound like a bit of a Derren Brown nerd for knowing this but heres a list of his Channel 4 work.

Mind Control (Three 1 hour episodes)
Trick of the Mind (3 series)
Trick or Treat (2 series)

Russian Roulette
The Seance
Messiah
The Gathering
The Heist
The System

I've also heard the footage from his recent 2008 tour is going to be released on DVD.

I'll take your word for it as I have no idea what Banachek looks like.

I think he looks more like a young Richard Gere!

P.S. I've just pre-ordered this DVD from Play. :D

Still no confirmation on exactly what specials will be on it? Hopefully, all of them.

I think I'm going to wait until I can pre-order it from Amazon, because I prefer Amazon to Play for absolutely no reason at all.

It's available to pre-order from Amazon now, price £22.49 including free delivery. Price at Play is £17.99, including free delivery. Still prefer Amazon? ;)

Can't upscale 4oD and watch it on a 1080p TV though from the comfort of my own sofa.

For the amount I paid for it, I'm gonna use it.

Thats just a placeholder price. Its sure to come down sooner to the release. HMV have it for the same as play.

I seem to have assumed there will be 4 special on the dvd set. I may have confused myself into thinking there were 4 because i had previously only known of 4 of them...
My skills of misdirection and confusion must be improving - im using them on myself!

I hope they bung all of them onto one set rather than disappointing us by only using half or leaving a couple out. The price seems perhaps a little low for that though.

To be honest I could live without The System as Its not really anything special at all. Messiah is my favourite, especially the cold reading which he does so fantastically.
