It would be a lot better if it was a signed and selected card by a spectator for impact.

If I were you, I would buy a book such as Strong Magic by Ortiz or a similar book that deals with close up presentation.

If the patter sucks, why post it? Spend 1/2 hour scripting the excact words for the effect or at least something to follow.

Yes, but at least he's taken the advice to heart from his vid in the file sharing section- ie. include patter instead of a thrashing metal track. Next step is just crafting your patter.

And I have to second Strong Magic. Yes, I know some people on here ie. Mark Lewis, sing the praises of the section in expert card technique, (with good reason too I may add) but when you compare that with this book you will see the chasms of difference that lie between the two. Strong magic will give you practical tools to improve your presentation of close up magic, going from the effect itself, to creating a character, to choosing assistants from the audience and so much more. A simply brilliant book :D

Precisely. Ortiz, although I do have my reservations about him, has done a BRILLIANT job with this book. Even Mr. Sadowitz recommended it, and one of his routines is uses as an example of bad trick!
