Well firstly - the answer to this isn't best found by posting the question in the reviews section.

Secondly - it depends on what you deem to be a magic trick and thirdly who the trick is for. Is it for you? If so how old are you? What sort of magic do you like? Is it for a child?

Magic is a diverse subject - so if you help us by telling a little about yourself and what you like to watch maybe we can help...

In short though - I would say from books. There are threads on this already, but...

If it is cards - The Royal Road to Card Magic
If it is general Magic, the Mark Wilson's Complete Course in Magic or (my favourite) Nick Einhorn's The Encyclopedia of Sleight of Hand and Magic.

I would have to agree with the post above. Buying magic tricks and gimmicks is really fun - but if you want to get into magic, i would suggest starting with a bit of sleight of hand so that gimmicks and individual effects can be added to compliment your already existing repertoire.
I would add to the list above the Card College series. It's quite a bit more expensive than Royal Road, however it's more up-to-date and is quite encyclopediac with the amount of material it covers. It also has many more diagrams, checkpoints and variations on a theme. As well as covering some interesting routines.

Just my two cents

I'm confused. You ask about the best place to buy magic tricks from yet your sig has a link to a very well known and respected supplier of magic :? .

Is it a very odd way of advertising? Or is it just...silly? Me confused.

Indeed they are one of the biggest and most reliable of suppliers but there's still no need to include a link or refefnce to them on your sig. That's classed as advertising so it's been removed, sorry.

Best place to look is our Review section, there are three sections for different classifications and the opinions there are mostly from those who have bought and used each effect/routine or book in practice and will tell you the strong and weak points.

Another important factor to consider is where you are from. What country and area of that country are you in?

This can change reccomendations greatly. I have a list of US dealers, while those from the UK will have a more extensive list of UK dealers.
