Anyone up to speed on itunes?

Postby Carl Buck » Aug 1st, '08, 14:07

I've had a major clear out of my itunes library, deleting about 5 gig of music, but my itunes folder in 'my music' on my C drive is still showing everything i've ever had, eating up loads of memory space.

Is there any way of quickly just deleting the unused music, leaving my itunes playlists intact?

The only way I can see to do it is to go through the folder and manually delete ach album/artist thats no longer in itunes?? :?

Cheers

I think iTunes gives you the choice of deleting it from your hard drive or just from the iTunes library. Its possible that you've selected for it to always delete from library only so you might have to go through the settings to change that, if its not asking you when you press delete.

The same thing happens for me. I can't see any settings to delete just from library, or to fully delete, either.

I'd just bite the bullet and go through the iTunes folder on your C drive and delete from there, as annoying as that might be.

Unfortunately that's what yu will need to do - go through the library on the C drive and delete the folders individually.

Might be worth simply moving your library and readding them as you need them, as outlined here
