I'm young but I don't understand the gauge earrings. (Those are the ones where you make large see-through holes in your ear)

Barton: Have you read the Bible, Pete?
Pete: Holy Bible?
Barton: Yeah.
Pete: Yeah, I think so. Anyway, I've heard about it.

5 years ago I understood it all, Now I understand none of it. So that obviously means I'm 25 years old and not 25 year's young

right, i've used it now...i kept it simple...type and hit enter...that seemed best...

nothing exploded....i even avoided human interaction by ordering a pizza online at the same time...

21st hermits...

who uses MSN here? is it actually any use long term, or just a bit pointless?

MSN is great. I use it almost daily to "speak" with friends I don't necessarily get the chance to see face-to-face. In fact, I've been getting to know FairieSnuff better over MSN since yesterday. It sure beats sending PMs back and forth.

Iain, PM me your email address and I'll add you to my friends list. I am Billy No Mates, so need all the friends I can get. Image

I've never understood the point of texting.

Composing a text, giving it a heading, and choosing a recipient takes much longer than the time required to just phone the person. Even if it means leaving a voicemail. It's a massive waste of time and effort (let alone a monstrously destructive force on the written word), and I defy anyone to convince me otherwise.

Horseless carriages.
Teletext.
Teleprinters.
Electricity.

But seriously folks...myspace/facebook etc. I don't get it. You want a website? Get a website. Cannot see the point of a facebook page with loads of messages from people you don't know saying things like "Wassup bro?" I don't get it. Please, explain to me why I need one. And don't say "it's for social networking". I understand those words less than I understand facebook itself.

I have Myspace, bebo...and Facebook - I guess its because I'm 17. But with these you're able to find your old school, and see who has the social network site from that school. Maybe you're on a friends page, you see in his friendlist someone you haven't talked to in a year, so you add them and get talking again. Its a good way to keep everyone you know...organised really.

I thought the same thing. My argument was that it was a step backwards. The telephone is a newer and better invention than the telegraph - so why bother with making a telegraph work on a telephone?

However, got a new cellphone with those little keyboards inside and I have to say now that I don't have to hit a key up to 3 times for any particular letter I rather enjoy it.

It's very easy to send a quick text "I'm here" or "At work, will phone later" etc. than having to bother dialing, waiting for them to pick up, exchanging pleasantries, giving the message, saying goodbye.

However, I completely agree with Myspace/Facebook. They are a plague upon the internet and surely invented by Satan himself.

I use MSN from time to time, quite a nice way to chat to friends from time to time if the happen to be online when I am.

You've got my email address haven't you Iain? Add me and we can share abuse when ever we're both online. :D

Facebook is an odd one, I set mine up a while ago but never use it, ca't really see the point of it.

I love msn, although go through fits and starts of using it. Blocking people you just dont feel sunny enough to "chat" to. Its great to be able to have a convo without worrying about the politeness of waiting for someone to respond whilst talking, you can just rattle away without a care in the world. (apologies to replicant for this :D i am known to waffle on)
As for facebook, yes i have one, as its a great way to share photo's of kidlets with everyone else without having to keep emailing them. Im not really into the "friend" side of it.

My fave gizmo thingymabob is smart phones, web and email where ever you are, i would never be without one now.

I use msn, since all my friends are too busy or have moved away. So the only time I can catch them is online. I also have a few friends from some online games I play/have played on there, so we can talk easier.

Also pcwells, I understand what you mean about not texting but leaving a voicemail. But a text just costs yourself, a voicemail costs you and the reciever. Plus I can write a text while working, when I can't phone.

Saying that, I do prefer to send old fashioned letters to people. It's more personal and I can doodle as well.

But, getting to the subject. I understand all the latest gadgets, but give me a simple machine, like a washing machine or tumble dryer, then that is where i'd get confused.
