Ammar's Card on Ceiling advice

Struggling with an effect? Any tips (without giving too much away!) you'd like to share?

I did the effect here at home about 8 times last night and thought I had the perfect solution by using baby wipes to get rid off any excess MW.

Unfortunately there are bright, reflective, shiny patches now wherever I rubbed.

My wife took it surprisingly well which I think was partly a tribute to the effect and how impressed she was by the reaction it got.

For "off" read "of" of course. I really am more literate than that!

Ok I played with this today having read this thread I thought I'd check it out (IB)

Anyway my concern is not with getting it to work or the wax it leaves behind on the ceiling but more about how management will react when they find a card stuck to the ceiling.

Forget about the paid work, what if you just want to do this down the pub to some random folks does anyone have stories of being barred from pubs for doing it? Or have management been kind surprised with it etc and laughed it off?

I'd be interested as I might give this a go in one of the bars but I don't want a shinning off the bouncers

In my old school hall, which is pretty damn tall, I would say at least 15-20 metres there is a playing card stuck to the ceiling.

A magician before the effect about 10 years ago, goodness knows if it was Ammars version, but its pretty impressive!

Card on Ceiling

You may want to have a look at Doc Eason Bar Magic DVD volume 3 for a different take on the routine. The whole series of DVD´s are really good anyway. Great routines to watch.
Ammar´s routine is on the video of his Lecture at The Magic Circle called Magic Mastery and You 1995 Lecture video.
I am not at home to have a look for you but it is probably in his Magic of Michael Ammar book which in itself is a great volume with some brilliant material.

Ok rather than waiting for a reply here i tried it out for my self in the trenches. A couple of things to report

1. It gets great reactions bordering on humourous to "what the hell"

2. It feels to good to get away with and not get barred that its almost a thrill. I'll be trying it more often, I was giggling like a little child that it worked each and every time I used it tonight. And not once did I get barred

quick question on this - I'm learning this via an old video I have of Karl Norman's. The explanation is ok but doesn't go into much of the misdirection of the effect.

Having not invested in any of ammar's stuff - how does it measure up?

Also - is it possible to do this with 1 band?

Thanks,
Alex

From what I can recall you don't get much of an explanation when you buy the product, just a slip of paper with basic info. You do however get a more thorough working through the effect on his "Easy to Master Card Miracles Vol. 5" which is always worth buying because, as ever, the rest of the stuff on there is killer too:

Volume Five
Virginia City Shuffle (Martin Lewis, Louis Falanga, John Luka)
Another Quick Coincidence (Allan Ackerman)
Henry Christ’s Fabulous Four Ace Trick (Henry Christ)
Cards Into Card Box (Mark Lefler)
The Gun Trick (Ken Krenzel)
Card on Ceiling (Michael Ammar)
Torn & Restored Card (J. C. Wagner)
Hofzinser All Backs (Harry Riser)
Grasshopper (Paul Harris)
Out of Sight, Out of Mind (Dai Vernon)

Bonus Effect - Paramount (Aldo Colombini)
