Outlaw Products

Postby Mandrake » Aug 5th, '08, 10:50

I just noticed this on www.magicweek.co.uk:
Merlins of Wakefield have just acquired the UK rights for a range of Outlaw Magic effects from the USA. These are mentalism based effects with the emphasis on "non-magical" looking items. The owner, Rick says "I specialise in the production of hand-crafted effects for those that perform in the field of mentalism. Whether for the professional or hobbyist, I design my products to fit most needs. I take great pride in the custom work done here at Outlaw and it is reflected in the wonderful feedback I receive from customers, including some of the top names in our field." As everything is hand-crafted they are generally only available in limited quantities, or on a made to order basis. Visit www.merlinswakefield.co.uk for details.

Outlaw used to have a line on their web site about not dealing through distributors. Then for some reason it "disappeared"... I wondered why... not any more.

Actually I don't sell to "wholesalers" :D

I was contacted by Merlins and an arrangement was made. The U.K. is the second largest buyer of Outlaw products and it's nice to have an outlet, although limited quantities, of some of my products available over in the U.K.

merlins is a good choice. because of their location, they do attend quite a few conventions. And the range is probably not going to be swallowed up on their display.

Excellent news for me, Very bad news for the missuss  I'm so glad we finally have Outlaw product's available here now, I have alway's wanted them but I have alway's made the point of not ordering from abroad, probably because I'm so impatient I order everything next day delivery or if I'm really impatient Ill get in the car travel 300 miles book a hotel and just go and get it but luckily I'm only 45 mins from Alakazam so Ill usually go there on one of my really impatient day's. Right where's the credit card

Then again, with the current exchange rate, it's a lot cheaper to order from Roth himself!

yeh, but surely with merlins exclusive rights to the UK roth would have to stop supplying to the UK directly? Would have thought they'd be clever enough to write it into the contract..

Merlins has a limited quantity of the Outlaw products they list. They can re-supply from me.

They were very happy to be able to carry some Outlaw products.

The question of whether or not Outlaw would still sell direct to the U.K. customers was never an issue.

I would not give up my rights to sell my own products to whomever wished to purchase them from me, and that was never an issue for Merlins.

that's awesome, haha. Just dunno anyone who would buy from them when they can go direct to you and it's cheaper. I'm looking to get Sanctum soon and I know where I'll be getting it from

In fact all this gives customers an extra choice. Buy from the UK and get the product next day or buy from Rick and await the arrival in due course. If you really have to have something urgently it's now possible - best of both worlds really!

I have been looking at outlaw stuff for a while, now merlin's are stocking, at the next convention I will have a look.

I don't by from overseas, import duty, delays etc are just too much, I've been stung a couple of times so its just not worth it to save a few pounds.

In fact 90% of my purchases are now from conventions, I'm fed up with stuff being advertised as whatever and getting it only to find its poor quality or a rubbish product, this way its as safe as it can be!

For those who need the product within a couple of days and are happy to pay a premium for the privilege (the price difference between Merlins and Outlaw for Luna, for example, is about £25), then Merlins all the way. Personally, I am happy to wait a few weeks so I'll be ordering direct from Rick - especially if I'm saving £25 at the same time!
