How to practice "invisible deal"

Struggling with an effect? Any tips (without giving too much away!) you'd like to share?

Sorry to bump this up and add to it,
i know how to "force" the final card, but ............ for some reason they are not focusing where i want them to (in the final spread) and go in the middle.
Now its not a huge problem as i can see where they are and what they have gone for.......
But why are they focusing where they are. Its like they have mirror imaged it so my right is their right rather than my right being their left.

Any suggestions?

This again is about perspective of the performer and the spectator. It's easy to ribbon spread cards so they are orientated towards yourself rather than the spectator, we get used to this, making sure the indexes of the cards are the "right way up" for the spectator and the same applies in this example. The cards should be oriented for the spectator not the performer.

However, if you are getting it down to just two "outs", I'd argue that a stronger finish could be accomplished with a card in an envelope on show throughout the effect - this of course would be an envelope with two compartments separated with a divider made to match the envelope.

However, as mentalist we need to remember that the occaisional "miss" makes the "hits" even stronger. If you are performing for an audience chances are that someone will have thought of the force card, when I miss I throw this open to the rest of the spectators present. Someone will have thought of the card. When you miss move on to something sure fire guarenteed to hit.

Hi Smoked,

I tried that effect couple of times so far, and got right only once. Perhaps this should be one of the earlier tricks, or in an environment where they are not trying to catch you out. I use something like ID; at this moment my patter line is "that whole experiment" (note: not magic) was really to tune the spectator so I can now mentally force a card on them. I have found this way, the heat is not on the cards at all.
