Hey folks!

Hey guys, I trust you're all well!

I'm working for Nokia this summer as a 'Connector'. Basically, we go out into the UK's city centre's streets, parties, beaches and festivals to help people unlock the magic in their phones and educate them about all the wonderful things Nokia phones can do.

To help us, they equipped us with a couple of magic tricks, but I'm looking for a few more. Needs to be something quick, visually impressive and relatively easy to learn! Any suggestions?

Also, as part of the advertising campaign, they recruited Dynamo. I know I probably shouldn't ask this, but does anyone have any idea how this trick is possible? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S9QhV_rVbfM

Sorry for the essay! :)

Hi and welcome - you're right that we can't tell you tricks are done, that's exposure - why not ask Dynamo himself, he's a very nice guy and always seems to be helpful.

Hi and welcome

Just out of interest, what tricks did they give you to perform?

Hiya, if you're looking for a few tricks why not grab yourself a copy of Mark Wilson's Complete Course. It's a great book that'll teach you lot of basics and some great tricks.

If you're part of the Nokia team that Dynamo is apparently working for, then why do you need to ask how one of his tricks is done?

And as far as I can tell it's not even a trick. It's just someone who has her number and has their phone registered with the name "3 of Hearts".

If you've got something going on Leeds i'll come and juggle with some phones :D

Surely you could put a phone (or maybe just a phone casing) on a pull?

In all honesty guys, I don't think Maven is a magician or has any interest in magic.
Shoot me down if I'm wrong but I see it as a sales person wanting to find secrets to tricks or learn a few effects to improve their sales figures!

I'm pretty sure you gave a definition of a magician there!

There's nothing wrong with knowing a few tricks to improve sales figures. i know a few salespeople that read books on coldreading and NLP and all that jazz to try and give them an edge in the market place, and i've seen them put a lot more effort into studying it that a lot of "magicians" have (certainly a lot more time that i gave to The Full Facts").
Most of the "I'm just here to learn some secrets" folk do nothing but tarnish the art of magic while sat infront of their webcams; but if someone wants to learn something to do something productive with it then kudos to them, if they can go out on the streets and bring some magic to a couple of dozen citizens then it's a lot more than some members of this board do.

(i do hope I'm right)

I agree with you Lawrence, all I meant was Maven might not be familiar with magicians terminology, and that Lomster offered the best advice by purchasing a reputable book! :D

Harsh.

I would never refer to myself as a magician, but I would say that I definitely have a recently discovered interest in magic. My job doesn't involve sales of any kind, so I'd appreciate if you didn't categorise me or my frankly innocent attempts to discover how a trick is done.

Also, to the guy who mentioned Dynamo working for Nokia - I think he was only contracted to do the adverts, nothing more.
