Help with madonna

Postby danTheMan » Aug 19th, '08, 15:15

Hi folks,

I am still in the process of learning the madonna cut. I can do it fairly well, except the last part where a charlier cut with revolution should be done. I think the main problem is that while doing the charlier (aka. one handed revolution cut) alone is no problem, when doing it in the madonna, you have one finger less to do it (because the hand has some more packets to hold).

So, I would appreciate any help!

Doesn't your copy of The System DVD (which you purchased) explain it well enough? I thought Dave Buck was a very thorough teacher...

You'll probably be able to find some good help on the Dan and Dave forum at http://community.dananddave.com/

I can't really help much myself as I have tried (and failed) learning that cut. Also isn't it part of the Jackson Five found on disc 2 of the Trilogy or is it also on the system?

Personally I'm not really into XCM I can do sybil but that's about it.

No, unfortunately, there is no sound (no spoken instructions), just the video material from 2 angles in normal and slow motion. And yes, I purchased it, of course (from penguinmagic).

I didn't own the trilogy, so do not know about that set. But madonna is definitely on the system disc.

Why is there one less finger to execute the OHR? Near the last bit where you place a packet into the left fingers to execute the OHR, make sure you insert it directly between the index and ring finger, not between the thumb and index finger.

Multiple cuts are just too hard to explain in words without graphics. Just watch the videos over and over again and just practice. There's no real other way of learning a multiple cut...

I suggest you learn Madonna 2 first... it's much easier and you will find it easier to understand the Madonna-esque style flourishes.

Oh thank you! I did. Please forgive me for rudely entering this territory without introducing myself. =)
