Don't Miss A Trick

Postby Tomo » Aug 24th, '08, 15:02

From the Radio Times web site:

Monday 25 August, 5:05pm - 6:00pm, BBC1
"One-off family special hosted by Kate Thornton. Shot entirely on location, magicians Jessica Clement, Paul Wilson and Alex Conran from BBC3's the Real Hustle perform for the public. Can you guess how it's done before the tricksters reveal their secrets? Meanwhile, freaky magician Pete Firman shares his shocking, stomach churning tricks."

Sounds cool. I too am hoping it'll be on iplayer.

Are they all really magicians then?

Good point! Actually, no. Jessica is just a model who happens to be able to read an auto-cue very well. R Paul Wilson and Alex Conran are both magicians, though. R Paul Wilson is one of my personal favourites - he's invented some amazing effects, including Fan-2-C

They just have Jess as a part of the show to keep the idiots watching. No offence, Replicant.

Lol.

I'm sure she helps as a distraction in a con.

So they were never con artists? Isn't that the story they give you?
I suppose many of the skills are similar...

I've recently seen that Wilson did a RRTCM DVD so I figured about him, but I didn't know anything of the rest of them.

Yeah, they were never con-men.

By the way - if you're interested in cards you should get R Paul Wilson's RRTCM DVD set as well as the book. I have both and they are... well... I won't get on my soap-box. They're 'kin good.

I would love to but its a little dear for my current level of involvement.
Now please don't tempt my severe CUPS any further.

Fair point, the other 2 have some skills related to the show and thought "you know what, we need a female person in on this too" I imagine they looked around for a girl with a similar skill set to their own and then Jess walks in and simples say "Hi, I'm Jess; and these are my boobs"....
And to be fair to the guys... well played, very well played!

(on that note i would love it if i was wrong and she actually has the skills and input into the show that i am doubting he has)

Yeah. R Paul Wilson is all over Lennart Green - in a good way. He's also his sidekick in the Green Magic DVD series. It sort of reminds me of South Park where that mad biologist, Dr Mefesto, always has a weird little mute guy at his side. Again, in a good way.
