I don't know how you can justify seven dollars on a deck of cards but, than again I've been known to spend inordinate amounts of money on cards.

Let's see, don't use the reveal it just makes them think, already they most likely do, that they are gimmicked cards. If the box is gimmicked the cards must be is the logic that justifies their claims. After that there's no way to win them back.

As for the joker, I don't know. I've never used one of them.

Barton: Have you read the Bible, Pete?
Pete: Holy Bible?
Barton: Yeah.
Pete: Yeah, I think so. Anyway, I've heard about it.

big blind media do a dvd called 2faced which has routines with double backers etc on. I havent got it personally but the reviews of the dvd on their site seem promising.

'Complete course in magic' has one or two double backer tricks in it. I'm sure Daniel Garcia did a cool effect with a double backer on one of his Project dvd's called 'Satisfaction Guaranteed'.

Well, I don't approve of silly, overpriced gimmick decks like the Shadow Masters, but since I own a deck of them myself I'd better shut up.

Instead, here's a hint for you to get you started with the double-back. Control a selection to the top. Pull the double-back out from under/in/behind something and say it's their chosen card which has miraculously teleported. Drop it onto the top of the deck and DL. You can now spread the rest of the cards to show all backs.

I perform a vastly more complicated version of that basic idea to have someone select and sign a red backed card and then teleport their signature onto a blue backed prediction card that has been in plain sight all along.

There are a million and one uses for these gimmicks - they're marvellous.

That's GOT to be the worst excuse for CUPS that I've ever heard of (apart from also being a waste of a deck of cards)

I don't know about the worst, what about buying a deck for free shipping. Still I have to admit that's pretty bad.

That's a great reason, actually. For instance, if shipping on an order over £50 is free, and your order comes to £47, why not buy a fancy deck of cards to bring the order up to the free shipping rate? Makes perfect sense to me!

Personally, and don't take this as me being a fan of these cards, but I do feel the bar code revel is very strong - in fact it is the only part of this deck that I like. I have got very good reactions from this, I normally force it (obviously) and then get them to hold their card, and put it in the box and shake it, making sure the bar code is facing them from the start. Then I point out the barcode, making sure the deck is in there hands.

No one has ever said to me after this that they reckon the cards are gimmicked. So yeah, I do actually like the bar code reveal.

Oh and plus, I feel its really good when you have your cards with you and someone says 'Oh, show us a trick' so when set up time is out the window. But I'm sure even infront of spectators you could find a way to control the desired card to the correct position for the bar code revel :)

I just ordered my shadow masters and boy is it expensive.... but if you want class and style gotta pay up i suppose. Its the same reason why we buy expensive colonges or brand name clothing. I also hate when people say oh such a waste of money yet they whip out a zippo to light up a smoke (isnt that a waste of money cause you could have used matches or a disposible light :? ...noobz)

Ok now for the magic you can do with a double backer and DF'er. Uhm its a simple routine that can be done for friends or couples were the 2 selected cards fuse with their signatures (although the thought of signing a shadow master deck is not reccommended).
This is a simple trick (its all about the presentation) where you use the double backer (DB) to make it look like the doubled faced (DF) is 2 normal cards. Simply start face up and force the DF then force the DB (deck face down) then place it UNDER the DF. now have the card signed.
Now this is how to sign the other side (i dont know the name of this slieght). You will place the 2 cards with your middle and index finger on top and your thumb on the bottom (overpalm pos). If the DF is on the left you want to give the impression that you showin the face of the right card (the DB) so when you flip the cards (underpalm pos) you will pull the bottom card with your thumb and push the top card with you finger (vice versa when fliping the cards overpalm) and this give the illusion that these are 2 normal cards (Dont bring attention to it act casual and dont rush the move no one will notice).

Now you can get a signature on the other side of the DF and the trick is DONE. Place the cards on top of the deck (make up a reason for doing this) then simply take the DF to show they fused (how you present this is your choice). If your want to let the deck be examined simply palm the DB while they in shock trying to figure how the cards fused no one will notice your palm.
Remember your patter is THE most important thing in a trick so find a way to present this to make the trick your own

there's quite a bit that can be done with a double backer, have look through Mark Wilson's book for a few ideas.
