Hi Kayla.

Welcome to TM.

If you are serious about learning and becoming better at magic, I suggest you buy yourself a couple of good books as opposed to tricks.

The other members will tell you their personal favourites, but 2 I reccommend are Royal Road to card magic and Mark Wilsons complete course to magic.

These 2 will do you for a good start.

Have fun! :D

Impossible is nothing, if you only believe!

Hi kayla and welcome to TM. If you want to get better you could tell us the type of magic that most interests you and we could then recommend some books that would help. :)

Well...I'm really just starting to learn about magic. I've been watching cool magic videos on the computer and trying to figure out what im intereste in. I like the card tricks and all the illusions. But I'm not sure that I can do them...

then as taffy has previously stated Mark Wilson's 'Complete Course in Magic' would be a fine place to start and for $13.57 on amazon you can't really can't go far wrong with that. It'll teach you plenty of great card magic and illusions plus a wealth of other stuff (coins, rope, mentalism etc).

You can't find better than this, and you'd be hard pressed to find a member here who would recommend anything else instead.

Even if you're not interested in all the areas it teaches, this book will provide you with a fine foundation for anything else you want to do later on.

Welcome to the board. There are some great video clips on YouTube, but try to stick to the clips of the professionals. You can pick up a lot of bad habits very quickly by watching the bedroom teenage magicians, so try not to copy them.

Mark Wilson's book is a great resource, particularly if you're not sure what area of magic you're interested in. Also, don't limit yourself to just one type of magic, a good grounding in the basics in several different areas (coins, cards, ropes etc) is useful. Good luck and enjoy your magic!
