You are absolutly correct Queen. No matter how you perform this effect it is going to suck.

In the mean time I'll keep performing because when I perform, and the others who have posted on this thread who have a great deal of performing experience perform this effect it is nothing less then magical.

No need to be so passive/aggressive. I made it perfectly clear my comments were only an opinion. I'm sure your haunted key is spookier than Derek Acorah's jockstrap, by jingo!. ;)

I keep this key on a key ring along with my normal keys. Somehow one of the teeth/tines? has managed to bend. Not outwards, but in line towards another one.

It hasn't affected the working at all. In fact, I explain one time it was so powerful that the key actually twisted that way. that is also the reason I wont use someone elses key, in case I ruin it.

This can be a powerful effect. It is ideal performed surrounded. In fact, that makes it more special.

I have got up to three people to hold my wrist, fingers and arms, so there is no way I could be moving it unless through "mind power."

They KNOW I haven't moved my hand.

They know that I need contact with the key to enhance the conection with my mind, to get the power required to make it work. THAT is the reason it isn't done on a table, because of the sheer power needed to turn it.

Whatever story lays behind your patter or explanation, it is still some external force that turns the key, which works THROUGH you.

There is atmosphere with this effect, if you take time to build it up.

Queenie,
if people are gullible for thinking this is real, aren't they gullible for mentalism, mental magic or any form of magic.

If you perform this correctly, people DO believe that SOMETHING has happened which they cannot explain.

With people I know, I have taken over 2 minutes to turn the key. I don't even start until 20 or more seconds in. They are just thinking it isn't working when they notice it has moved, then they are drawn right in.

I would even say that this key is a great way to learn about showmanship, as that is what you need to rely on completely, otherwise it will be as you put it, A key that turns, wow.

You wait 5 minutes for it to post after hitting submit, before trying again, then it double posts.
